Participant Spotlight: Brent Agee

Brent is the kind of guy who can brighten a day with a smile. He is kind, honest, and hardworking. These qualities, among many others, landed him his new job at Kroger.

For the past several months Brent worked with his Employment Specialist, Julie Thomas. They built a resume and every week explored opportunities in the community, speaking with managers and advocating for employment.

In all areas of his life, Brent has been an example of someone who refuses to allow barriers to stand in the way of success. His perseverance has been an example to all of us at Lord's Legacy.

Holding Grace - A Blog From the Heart

"O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water." (Ps.

63:1-2)

We see Jesus pray more often than we hear him talk about prayer. Too often we are caught up in how to pray or finding  the right  words. The Bible shares that Jesus is closer than a brother, and God is the Father of all nations. Being His babies, there is no need for religious etiquette in prayer; conversation and transparency is what our God is after (James 4:8). Imagine your child running to you, saying these words, "Oh, you are so wonderful! Who can compare? I will never measure up to you. I know that you love me but I am not worthy of your love, acceptance, or anything that you offer me. I will always be low compared to you. Thank you for being mine and I love you." The exclamation of the child is not about form or technique, it's about adoration. It is the heartfelt response to unrestrained love. This is how we are called to pray.

I encourage whoever is reading this not to focus on the "how-to's" of prayer, but rather the "Who" of who you are praying to. The more we read the Word, the more we are able to understand who He is and the heart He has for you and I. When we understand that our prayer life changes.

As the sun rises in the morning, goes down in the evening, talk to the Father.

On your knees, on the face, heads bowed, or hands lifted, talk to the Father.

In quiet, noise, peace or chaos. talk to the Father.

On good days, bad days and confusing days, talk to the Father.

His voice will change you, set you free, soothe your weariness, and bring you into a place of confidence and trust unlike any other.

Much Love,

Meg

Familiar Faces, New Positions

Some of you may remember April Wackerly from the April newsletter. She was recognized as being an exceptional staff who embodies the mission of Lord's Legacy in her work. This month, LLM is pleased to announced April's new role as the Office Administrator. She will now be working as part of the administrative team to continue to enhance supports and will be the new face that greets everyone who visits.

With this change, Megann Gaunt has transitioned to our Public Relations department. She will be picking up where Mallory left off by planning events and making community contacts. Meg will continue to head up Holding Grace and will be growing our volunteer program.

Lord's Legacy is incredibly blessed by the talent these two ladies bring to the ministry. Their deep love for Christ and passion for the ministry will continue to improve the supports Lord's Legacy provides.

If you have any questions about these changes please contact the office at 859-245-2233.
LLM Presents: Sarah Wales

Sarah Wales is positive, uplifting, inquisitive, and a myriad of other adjectives that reflect the great influence she has brought to the ministry. Those qualities, along with the work she has done in the few short months she has been with LLM is why we are recognizing her.

Sarah is a Michigan native, bravely venturing to Kentucky when she turned 18 to go to school at Asbury University. While here she is pursing a degree in Social Work. She said helping people is something she has always been passionate about and obtaining her Social Work degree will continue to make that possible. In her free time Sarah enjoys hiking, scrap-booking, reading, and spending time with friends. Her favorite part of working at LLM is getting to know the participants for who they are as individuals.

While speaking with CS Manager, Josh Lambert, he had this to say about Sarah: "It is clear she takes her job seriously. She puts a lot of effort into the work she is doing and it is reflective in all areas of her performance. Lord's Legacy is blessed to have Sarah as part of the team.
