"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." Ephesians 2: 4-10
Participant Spotlight: Sarah Kidd

In life, as we know, it is often the little things that can mean so much. In March it was a very little thing, just two chocolate cookies with cream filling. Sarah Kidd had never had an Oreo before. Throughout the course of her life she has been on a strict diet with no diary products. The ingredient "milk" listed on the back of the package was an impassable wall, until one day...

The challenge was fierce and the tension thick as the participants in the ADT contended in the Oreo Challenge. This is where the Oreo is placed on the top of the face and worked down to the mouth without using hands. After all the Oreos fell prey to the floor or the stomach the ADT began reading over the ingredient list and "milk" was nowhere in sight. After consulting with Sarah's mom on the matter, Sarah was handed her first Oreo cookie to enjoy. The smile above tells the rest of the story.
Easter Celebration

On Thursday April 17th at 10:30AM we will be hosting our Easter Brunch at Faith United Community Church. Events will include breakfast, worship, communion, an Easter Egg hunt, and arts and crafts. We welcome families to bring breakfast dishes if they would like, or just come to enjoy the food and events. This celebratory brunch will be focused on Christ's conquering the grave, making the way for us to have eternal life with him.

During the Easter Celebration, from 10:30AM-12:00PM Lord's Legacy's offices will be closed. If you need us, come on over to the Church where we will be celebrating the most joyous day in history.
Yankee Candle Spring Fundraiser

If you are searching for the perfect Mother's Day gift or a way to freshen up your house for spring cleaning, check out our Yankee Candle Catalog.  40% of all sales are donated directly to Lord's Legacy. If you choose not to sell, you can still put in an order on the form located at the front desk with Meg.

We'll be selling from Yankee's Spring Collection from Monday, March 17th through Monday, April 7th. If interested, please stop by the office and grab a packet from Mallory or Barb. All order forms and payments must be into Mallory no later than 5:00 pm on Monday, April 7th.

We are asking that there are no cash payments; checks can be made out to Lord's Legacy Life Ministries. Since we are a non-profit organization, there is no sales tax on the items sold. There is also a feature that allows for online sales. Participants can follow directions on the sheet included in the packets to set up a seller account and sell to people through emails in 3 easy steps. Contact Mallory at 859-245-2233 or mallory@lordslegacyministries.org with any questions.

LLM Presents: April Wackerly

To say April Wackerly has a heart of gold is an understatement, since the measure of the worth of gold is based on other people and the worth of April's heart is measured by Christ. She is an excellent reflection of her Creator.

April came to Lord's Legacy in August of 2013 and was quickly noted for her compassion and strength. She came here after graduating from  Asbury University with a degree in Graphic Design. Since staring in August she has served in numerous capacities, working hard to help participants achieve their goals. She says her favorite part of working at LLM is seeing progress through developing relationships and achieving goals.

In April's free time she enjoys jogging, hanging out with family, and going to church. April's brother, who is diagnosed with Down's Syndrome, is her inspiration for serving in this population.
Holding Grace - A blog from the heart

"But the mob shouted louder and louder, demanding that Jesus be crucified, and their voices prevailed." -Luke 23:23

We have a crowd instinct, a tendency to go with the flow. To live a set apart life, against this tendency, is a gift. This holy gift has the power to turn life into a blazing fire and if the fire is lived out, you and others will feel the sanctifying heat.

Jesus had the utmost conviction to do His Father's will. Although innocent before the cross, He was never defensive. The crowd that shouted for His murder overpowered the quivery voice of Pilate. Though Pilate knew the act was unjustified, he went with the crowd. He chose not to live a life set apart.

You and I are often among the crowd. We are like Peter, declaring, "Lord, I am ready to go to prison with you, and even die with you." And how often it seems like Jesus is saying, "Let me tell you something, before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny you ever knew me." We know Peter loved Jesus, but when the crowd closed in and their voices grew louder and louder, Peter wavered.  And after wavering, he wept.

Though Peter denied Christ, he knew his king. He made a decision to NOT stay defeated, to not let his identity be determined by the crowd. He did the most important thing a man can do before God by repenting. After that he was no longer Peter who wavers, but Peter who runs. He ran so hard and so fast after God that his passing shadow healed the sick. Peter's sin did not make him less of a mighty man of God. God used his sin for His glory. Peter is celebrated today as an apostle with fearless faith. He showed us that the only way sin can keep us from God is if we allow our hearts to stay condemned.

Jesus paid the price for our failures, mistakes, shortcoming, and all the other adjectives that mean "I messed up." We will miss the mark often; we will hit the mark often, Jesus is the one who judges and He has counted us righteous. If we focus more on who we are in Him, rather than the voices of the crowd around us, we may stumble as Peter did, but we will never fall.

This Easter season let's focus our attention on the truth of His gospel, the truth that is setting us free not by our stumbling steps, but by the love of Christ.

Much love,
Meg
