Quote of the Month

"What does love look like? It has the hands to help others. It has the feet to hasten to the poor and needy. It has the eyes to see misery and want. It has the ears to hear the sighs and sorrows of men. That is what love looks like." Saint Augustine

"For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God." 1 Peter 18-21

Participant Spotlight: Ashley Hogge

Last month Ashley took the spotlight for gaining acceptance into college. This month she takes it again for going to college. On the 12th of January Ashley stepped into her first college classroom. "I was nervous," she said, "but very excited."

Her dream of going to college has been in the works for sometime now. When she graduates she will pursue a career as a Special Education teacher and change lives.

When Ashley spoke about going to class she repeatedly talked about how nervous she was and said that taking classes can be stressful. These fears have in no way slowed her down. She does not let worry of not doing well get in the way of her goals. Ashley is a true example of perseverance and hard work. Though she faces obstacles ahead, the road behind her is littered with the remains of many more.
An itouch Valentine's

Come check out the latest selection of Valentine's Day cards at Lord's Legacy's Central Office. Each card is made by Dawn to celebrate with the world her joy for life. Not only do they express heart-felt sentiment, but they will spark a compassionate conversation when you tell your loved one Dawn's beautiful story.

For a limitied time, Dawn is also selling handmade jewely from Thailand. Over 50 percent of the proceeds go directly back to Thailand to support the community. If you are interested in purchasing the jewelry, contact Lord's Legacy Life Ministries at 859-245-2233

Dawn, the owner of itouch, is the survivor of a car accident that resulted in a life-altering brain injury. Since then, Dawn has overcome many obstacles to turn her passion for making people smile into a way of life. Her card company is a testament of her achievements. When you open her cards you are opening a piece of her life, so that even if she isn't present, she can still get you smiling.
LLM Presents: Angela Terry

Lord's Legacy is proud to present Angela Terry. Angela has been a consistent force at LLM since November 2011. Angela works in both the ADT and CS departments where she brings high quality supports to participants. Her favorite part about working at Lord's Legacy has been seeing the talents of the participants shine. When Angela was asked about the most cherished moment she has had she said, "When a participant told me that I was his best friend and he wanted to work with me forever. That brought tears to my eyes." Angela's passion for helping individuals with disabilities began in Kindergarten and grew from there.

Angela grew up in Indiana and went to school at Asbury University where her love of horses and helping people led her to major in Psychology and Equine Studies.
Angela has been married for five years to her husband Jeremy Terry.
Angela's hobbies include going horseback riding, spending time with her husband and family, and helping with the youth group and Sunday school at church.

Angela would like to give a special shout out to her brother-in-law, Jeff Terry. Jeff was told he would never be able to communicate through speech when he was a child. He also lost part of his index finger in a swing-set accident. Jeff's generous heart and artistic ability developed in him a passion for making calendars. He creates the calendars by holding the pencil in his hand like a screwdriver. The proceeds from the calendars go to the Morgan County Autism Fundation. If you would like to purchase one of his calenders please contact Angela in the ADT center.
