Memphis, Tenn. - Radford Dockery, Memphis City Schools' parent and community volunteer, has been announced as the Committed Fathers Alliance (CFA) 2012 Father of the Year. Dockery is a 10-year member of the MCS Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) program. He also volunteers his time at Shelby Oaks Elementary, Raleigh-Bartlett Meadows Elementary, Graves Elementary, Hamilton Middle, Craigmont Middle and Craigmont High Schools. Dockery will be recognized and honored during the 14th Annual International Fatherhood Conference, which will be held June 12 - 15, 2012 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Founded in 2001, the CFA is a non-profit organization designed to support and strengthen relationships between fathers and their children. The CFA hosts seminars each year to educate fathers on their responsibilities to their children and their communities. The second annual nationwide Father of the Year campaign seeks to recognize the achievements of dedicated fathers across the nation. Nominated by his daughter Raebin Dockery and MCS parent Mary Saulsberry, Dockery strives to work toward the betterment of his community by organizing fundraisers and other events. He plays an active role not only in the life of his daughter, but also in the lives of countless other students. "My dad does so many things for the community and the people in it, and I love him for what he does," said Raebin Dockery. Dockery will receive an all-expense paid trip to the International Fatherhood Conference and will be honored at the conference's "Spirit of Fatherhood Hall of Fame Luncheon."
