Our Ever Expanding Online Experiences
I recently had a fun futuristic ah ha while teaching my Friday One Year Class:
- My mother-daughter team FaceTimed me on my cell phone.
- A third student FaceTimed on another student's cellphone.
- The fourth student Skyped into my computer - she was traveling in Florida!
It looked like an episode from Star Trek with half the class joining through video links!
Ever expanding digital tools
I love the mainstream digital tools we can all access. Now with the online availability I love working with clients who do not live nearby because Phone and Skype Readings and Healings allow us to feel like we are in the same room.
I also love making and posting my daily vlog. I use my iPhone to make the video for my Daily World Barometer Readings.
I then share them by posting on a daily basis to Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, WordPress and Twitter.
So why are we becoming more disconnected?
Both my sister and husband have spoken to me about how people use texting and voice mail as ways to avoid speaking directly with someone.
- Look to see where you use these forms of communication. It can be very revealing.
- Are we deliberately avoiding talking to somebody by using these two types of communication?
If it's a valid reason, keep right on texting and leaving messages. If it's just because we have gotten lazy and stopped doing face-to-face communication it might be something to take a look at. Is it a healthy lifestyle to stop face-to-face communication to the degree the world is?
Look at the overwhelming amount of information available online.
Now that so much information is available it is easy to presume that it has been documented by a reputable source. But watch out because everything online may not be true. Just because you have found a source of information about a subject online does not make it true or ensure that it's been validated. Check the information by using your commonsense and your intuition before you start quoting or sharing the information with other people.
Check to see if you are connected to others or disconnected and using online experiences to escape.
With all the various applications now available for phones and tablets, we spend a lot of our time just staring at them and not doing things that we used to do. How has the internet affected you? Have you stopped doing things that are fun and creative?
Have you replaced your creative time with entertaining yourself on your phone or tablet?
How much of your day do you want to spend being creative growing and learning as a spirit?
There isn't any correct answer. You're the one that gets to decide. It's not about shaming or blaming yourself, it's about looking at something that has become a modern tool and using it as a benefit.
Get the full value out of this lifetime and enjoy it in all the many possible ways!
