Certified Paralegals will now receive notification by e-mail of updates to CLE hours recorded on their files. NALA has discontinued sending notifications via first class mail.

The confirmation encourages Certified Paralegals to look up their hours using the private web-based CLE look up. The confirmation includes definitions of terms on the CLE report and a link to current CLE requirements from the Certifying Board.

Your current login information is included in this newsletter. In addition, this will be provided with the notifications.

January 2014 Career Chronicle....
Now Available in Digital Format, iTunes and GooglePlay

The popular Career Chronicle edition of Facts & Findings is now available to NALA members and subscribers in digital format. The printed issue will be in your mailbox soon! January February 2014
As stated by Jane McKinnon, ACP, NALA Professional Development Committee Chair:

Choices...At each turn of our careers, we consider the merits of our options and make judgments based on each one's attributes. Some of us enjoy the day to day "grind" of the litigation world; others want something else. Look within  yourself to find out what makes you happy, then step out there  to see what is available. Webster's definition of choice  is "an act of selecting or making  a decision when faced with two  or more possibilities".  As you will find when reading the articles in this year's Career Chronicle,  paralegals have many more possibilities. A good friend once told me, "Shake it up, be the lime!"  I believe you will find useful information in the articles included here and I hope you can use the information to shake up your career.

This special edition of Facts & Findings is the annual Career Chronicle edition. Prepared by the NALA Professional Development Committee, this issue focuses on career options for paralegals. Included are articles about the Washington State Limited Licensed Legal Technicians introduced to the legal community in 2013, freelance business for paralegals, mediation, criminal law, and tips for all of us in "Happiness and Professional Growth."

More on Washington State

Limited License Legal Technicians

One of the feature articles of the 2014 Career Chronicle was submitted by Thea Jennings, the LLLT Program Lead and Staff Liaison to the LLLT Board at the Washington State Bar Association. The article explains the background and current status of the program.

The LLLT program of the Washington State Bar Association has garnered a lot of attention throughout the nation. It will be interesting to see how the program develops in 2014.
