September Facts & Findings

The theme of this issue of Facts & Findings is Immigration. Immigration is a hot subject throughout the United States. Amy Erlbacher-Anderson writes on the Department of Homeland Security's recent changes to Form I-9, while Dara Fernandez writes on the Dream Act which is the act that proposes a path to United States Citizenship for certain undocumented immigrants who enter the country as children. Additionally, Andrew DiSanto writes on promoting economic growth through foreign investment in spite of the limited immigration options for immigrant investors and entrepreneurs. This Immigration issue proves to be very informative and interesting.

Use Facts & Findings in Your Classroom!

Many NALA members are involved in their communities as instructors at their local college, or assist with students and those entering the paralegal career field.  Recently, we learned that instructors are using Facts & Findings in the classroom to introduce students to their career. The apps for Facts & Findings, available through iTunes and GooglePlay, include copies of the last five issues. While only subscribers have access to the current issue, the former issues are there for all interested persons.

Instructors are using the availability of the former issues in their assignments to students, by giving them a research project, or asking specific questions about one of the feature articles. This is a great way to introduce students to real-world issues and matters of concern to working paralegals.

Take a look at the apps and see how these will help you in your communications with those just entering the paralegal career field!

Ever wonder what other paralegals are wondering?

NALA offers members opportunities to communicate with each other many ways in addition to meeting annually each July.  The NALA private Conference Center has been overshadowed of late by the great success  of FaceBook and LinkedIn.   However, this remains a safe and reliable way to communicate with each other.

The Conference Center posting may be reviewed by all visitors to the web site, but postings are only available to NALA members.  There are forums for messages about NALA affiliated associations, questions about the Certified Paralegal or Advanced Certified Paralegal programs, employment opportunities, and leads and referrals (to find that perfect vendor for your office).

A private communication forum is a great way to stay in touch without the worry all of the issues related to public boards such as FaceBook and LinkedIn.  Give it a try today!

To visit the NALA Conference Center, visit "Members' Area" on the NALA web site.
