ELCA Service Day, God's Work. Our Hands, Sunday, Sept. 7th

 

Our Service Day will begin with devotions at 9:00am in the CFC. Following the service activities, the Fellowship Committee invites all workers to the church for a picnic lunch. Bring lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy an afternoon of food, fellowship and games for all ages. Hamburgers, hotdogs, chips and drinks will be provided. We ask that those with last names A-M bring desserts; N-Z bring salad/side. You can drop your dish off Sat., Sept. 6th between 12 to 4pm or Sun., Sept. 7th before 9am.

 

Tickets are $3/person; 5 and under/free. Tickets will be available between services this Sunday.

   

General Information

 

Our sincere thanks to those who participated in the August 17 LifeBlood Drive.  Thirty-three people attempted to give and 29 units of blood were collected. Congratulations to all!

Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University 

Financial Peace University is a 9-week class on the basics of budgeting, dumping debt, and planning for the future. Financial Peace University (FPU) teaches God's way of handling money. It presents biblical, practical steps to show you how to get rid of debt, manage your money, spend and save wisely and more.

 

The classes will meet each Tuesday evening at 6:30pm, beginning September 9th, and the class will meet in Room #111. You may direct your questions to the class facilitators: Tracy Kwiatkowski and Britta Hall. The class fee is $99.98, and must be paid by Sept. 2nd.

 

You may make reservations on the Communication Card found in Sunday's bulletin.

September is the kick-off time for Habitat for Humanity to begin their Fall Build. The St. Luke sponsored house will be in the Uptown area of Memphis, near St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  The shifts are from 7:30am - 1pm with lunch being served when the work day is over.  The dates are:

September 20 - Roofing and Framing/Begin Siding/Prime Interior

                       Walls 

October 11 - Exterior Paining/Interior Painting

October 25 - Install Sod/Landscaping and Plants/Final Touches

                  and Home Dedication

Mission Jamaica 

 

With warm temperatures outside now, it is hard to think about going to a warm place in the winter. We are pulling together a team for our next Mission Jamaica trip that is scheduled for

February 21-28, 2015.
