Best practices and Lessons Learned - Social Media Before, During, and After Emergencies
Over the last decade, social media has become an imperative communication and situational awareness tool for emergency preparedness, response, and support of long term recovery efforts. The release of new content for this new knowledge base topic focuses on best practices and lessons learned for social media use before, during, and after emergencies. This includes a description of policies critical to the development of an agency's social media plan, provides guidance on the use of Twitter as a communication tool, and gives suggestions on how to explore geographic trends before, during, and after an emergency. This knowledge base topic also identifies strengths and areas of improvement regarding how social media was used during recent emergencies. Go to the Learning Center  to view the knowledgebase topic today!

UpcomingdeliveryMeet Rowdy: The DelValle Disaster Dog
If you've ever taken a CPR course or learned to start an intravenous line, you know the benefits of practicing on a manikin. With this in mind, the DelValle Institute welcomes Rowdy as the newest member of our simulations family. Rowdy will be used to train first responders and first receivers to manage animals in disaster situations. Rowdy may represent a search and rescue dog, a law enforcement K-9 unit, a service, or simply the family pet. Not only can we practice treating simulated injuries to Rowdy, but we will also teach responders how to properly decontaminate animals in a mass care setting.
