While we are all still numb with grief for our fellow Americans who were maimed or killed on Patriots Day (April 15, 2013), and before American history gets revised too much by the statists among us, it should be remembered that the Boston Massacre of March 5, 1770 was one of the occurrences that incited the first American Revolutionary War. That was back in the day when British troops bullied their way onto the shores of America to enforce the heavy burden of the King of England's new taxes.  Boston Tragedy Points To The Need For A Spiritual Renewal It seems as if our whole country is falling apart. When crazed individuals kill others as in Sandy Hook, or bombers strike as in Boston, one wonders if we will be forced to live under the specter of violence every day in our lives. The Boston killing on Monday of three people and injuring of more than 170 during the running of the city's marathon reveals a hints of troubling cultural problems. For years, we have lived in relative safety from such attacks, while Europeans and those in places such as Israel have suffered from violence in public places. Now it's happening here.

The Gulf Coast Rod, Reel and Gun Club and the Gilchrist Community Association filed suit in federal court in Galveston today against Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson and the Corps of Engineers over various actions related to attempts to close Rollover Pass, a popular recreational fishing venue on the Bolivar Peninsula of Galveston County.

DEFENDING MOM
As conservatives, we know women as leaders in our communities, heroines in our culture, and most likely veterans of epic battles on topics ranging from curfews to cash. But we're here to recognize their most important job of all -- one that's so obviously important it shouldn't require a defense, yet needs one against the constant barrage of attacks from cultural and political spheres: motherhood. Not only have the women we've profiled been world-class ambassadors for all facets of motherhood, they show espousing conservative ideals doesn't put limits on what women can accomplish. You see, conservatives believe motherhood is as empowering as any top job at a Fortune 500 company. So as we prepare to celebrate Mother's Day, this is our thanks to the women who have unapologetically taken on the toughest job in the world

It's Time for a National Conversation on the Constitution
In October 2009, when asked about the constitutionality of "Obamacare," then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi responded, "Are you serious? Are you serious?"
Yes, Ms. Pelosi, it was serious then, and it's even more serious now.
What's not surprising was her reaction. She probably regrets saying what she did, especially after she has had to endure YouTube clip after YouTube clip, and commercial after commercial, showing her memorable little phrase over and over...ad nauseum. The Tea Party sure made her sorry in the 2010 midterm election.
But now it's time to revisit that phrase, and, more generally, the idea behind it,

HOW'S THE SEVENTEENTH AMENDMENT WORKING OUT FOR YOU?
Family, Friends, Patriots, and Elected Officials;
We have several systemic problems that allow our elected officials to abuse, circumvent, and shred our Constitution. Virtually every problem we face today is a result of that process - out of control, self-serving, career politicians. Personally I have three hot button issues and were I King For A Day, with the authority to do so, would correct in that one day, and in my opinion, America would be far better off for it. (1) Congress needs to be Term Limited so as to eliminate that "career" path that is so easily abused. (2) Appointees to the federal judiciary, including Supreme Court Justices, are not "appointed for life" but for a period of "good behavior." There must be a system to re-evaluate their behavior periodically such as a Senate Re-Confirmation Hearing Process, perhaps every 7 to 10 years. (3) And lastly, we must Repeal the 17th Amendment to the Constitution. States lost control of the State's representative in congress with the passage of the 17th. Prior to the 17th, states could recall a senator and put another one in his / her place if they were not representing the State. They were beholden to the States, not themselves for perpetual self-serving terms. The original intent was for the House to represent the people and the Senate to represent the States. Since 1913 when it was passed(???), the Senate has steadily become the most dysfunctional, partisan, elitist group in all of government. And the Feds continually abuse the states with growing frequency.
