Rotten to the Core: Lessons from Texas and the Growing Grassroots Revolt This year, I'll be using my syndicated column and blog space to expose how progressive "reformers" - mal-formers - are corrupting our schools. One of my New Year's resolutions is to provide you in-depth coverage of this vital issue that too often gets shunted off the daily political/partisan agenda. While the GOP tries to solve its ills with better software and communications consultants, the conservative movement - and America - face much larger problems. It doesn't start with the "low-information voter." It starts with the no-knowledge student | |

Republicans emerge from Obama dinner optimistic about deficit deal
Senate Republicans are more optimistic about the prospect of a grand bargain on the deficit after an intimate dinner with President Obama Wednesday evening in downtown Washington.
.
Obama and a dozen Republicans discussed a range of issues during a nearly two-hour meal at the Jefferson Hotel, focusing mostly on the budget, the issue that most divided them in the last Congress.

Rep. Paul Ryan's new Medicare cutoff: 56Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) is pressing GOP centrists to accept a budget that would cut Medicare benefits for recipients who are now 56 years old. The House Budget Committee chairman and 2012 GOP vice presidential candidate argues the change is necessary to help him produce a budget next week that balances within 10 years.

Breaking news on Benghazi:
Petraeus throws Obama under the bus
The CIA spokesman, presumably at the direction of CIA director David Petraeus, has put out this statement:
"No one at any level in the CIA told anybody not to help those in need; claims to the contrary are simply inaccurate. "
So who in the government did tell "anybody" not to help those in need? Someone decided not to send in military assets to help those Agency operators. Would the secretary of defense make such a decision on his own? No. Read More.....

Senate filibusters notwithstanding, there is no way this will end well unless someone has the courage and the forethought to initiate impeachment proceedings
The slow slide into dictatorship
A few months back Fox News' Alan Colmes commented to the effect that anyone who sees a parallel between pre-WWII Germany and Obama's America is in dire need of psychiatric help. Most people (and I think Alan Colmes in particular) don't understand that Hitler's rise to power came at the behest of German voters, who were swayed by the scapegoating and blaming of Germany's problems on Jews and duplicitous Communists. Hitler's rise to absolute power came about quite legally through a series of laws passed through the Reichstag, Germany's then parliament. Ultimately those laws established the National Socialist (NAZI) party (note the word "socialist") as the only legal political party in Germany by 1934
Many writers today are loath to make a comparison to the rise of Hitler's Power in comparison to the rise in Barack Obama's power because they claim it is "extreme" or "trite." Be that as it may, there are some definite parallels between the rise of Hitler and that of Obama. Both were rabble-rousers, both were socialists, both had extensive political support from voters as well as big businesses and yes, both were demagogues. In addition, both were also in perpetual campaign mode.
Oh yes, and both assumed increased dictatorial powers over time.

'The Bible' Trounces Perennial Sunday Ratings King '60 Minutes' (and Everything Else)
After producer Mark Burnett and his wife, actress Roma Downey referred to the Bible as "the most read, most influential book of all time," the first episode of their new mini-series on History Channel about that influential book delivered in a very large way. - The number one cable entertainment telecast of the year.
- The Bible was #1 trending term on Twitter leading up to the show
History.com's biggest day ever
In the 8-10pm time slot, The Bible's total audience number (13.1 million) for this first episode was nothing short of "biblical."

Senator's filibuster on CIA nominee divides GOP
WASHINGTON (AP) - The Obama administration bowed to demands from Republicans blocking a vote on the nomination of John Brennan to head the CIA on Thursday, stating there are limits to a president's ability to order drone strikes on U.S. soil against suspected terrorists who are American citizens. The reassurances were contained in a letter from Attorney General Eric Holder to Sen. Rand Paul, a Kentucky Republican who staged a filibuster across 13 hours on Wednesday demanding an answer to the question. Read More.....

Congressman Sessions Addresses March's CR Vote as It Relates to ObamaCare
|
An effort to remove Obamacare funding from the continuing resolution was attempted in the U.S. House, but the House Rules Committee, under Chairman Pete Sessions, imposed a "closed rule" that prevented any amendment to the Continuing Resolution. Conservative groups, including Freedomworks, tried to open the rules, but Pete Sessions' closed rule stayed in place. Thus, amendment of the bill to remove or restrict any part of Obamacare was prohibited. Owing to the imposition of the "closed rule," the Continuing Resolution was considered without amendment.
The Texas delegation to the U.S. House voted on the Continuing Resolution, including Obamacare funding, as follows:

Some facts on Obamacare YOU NEED TO KNOW
I would like to bring your attention to something that is in the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) that you are not going to like. If you are 75 or older or approaching 75 you should read and pay attention. The part highlighted in green in the attached has already happened to me. I am well past 75 and went to the ER with chest pains. Enzyme blood tests showed no increased levels so no heart attack. My cardiologist suggested a Angiogram to make sure everything was ok.I was admitted to Hospital and the next morning underwent the test which showed that I had 95% blockages in 2 of bypass arteries and 100% blockage in the Right Anterior Artery. I was a walking Heart Attack. After 3 trips to the Cath Lab & 5 stents later I was ok. Medicare is refusing to pay for hospital costs for overnight stays as my Primary Physician had not ordered the procedures. Medicare says it should have been done on an out-patient basis.
Point is......if you go to ER for anything and need to be admitted and you are 75 or older and on Medicare you must make sure your Primary Physician is the one who admits you. Read More......
