Thousands rally against stricter gun control in US
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Thousands of gun advocates gathered peacefully Saturday at state capitals around the U.S. to rally against stricter limits on firearms, with demonstrators carrying rifles and pistols in some places while those elsewhere settled for waving hand-scrawled signs or screaming themselves hoarse.
The size of crowds at each location varied - from dozens of people in South Dakota to 2,000 in New York. Large crowds also turned out in Connecticut, Tennessee and Texas. Some demonstrators in Phoenix and Salem, Ore., came with holstered handguns or rifles on their backs. At the Kentucky Capitol in Frankfort, attendees gave a special round of applause for "the ladies that are packin'."

Realizing that a shooting war with American citizens would not bode well for an Obama legacy which will already require a blanket guarantee of willful amnesia on the part of historians, the president's handlers on Wednesday decided it best to propose an Executive ban on gun owners rather than on the guns they own. |

YES I do feel strongly about this..
No one has been able to explain to me why young men and women serve in the U.S. Military for 20 years, risking their lives protecting freedom, and only get 50% of their pay on retirement. While Politicians hold their political positions in the safe confines of the capital, protected by these same men and women, and receive full-pay at retirement . It just does not make any sense.  | |

GOP Caves On Debt Limit
Republicans have agreed to vote on a bill that would raise the debt ceiling temporarily, specifically through mid-April. The theory is that this would allow both chambers enough time to concoct a budget for next year. If no budget is passed by April 15 th, they will be penalized with no Congressional pay until a budget is passed. The Washington Post reported: Read More......

Whatever the case may be, we encourage you to keep up your CERT skills and/or become officially CERT-certified!CERT Training is offered throughout Houston, Harris County, and the Region, year-round. As a CERT graduate, you can repeat part or all of the 8-week CERT training at any time. If you started but were unable to complete the 8-week training, you can either repeat the training in whole or attend the classes you missed. H-GAC has moved in on Armand Bayou. They are concerned about the water quality and have a plan to "help" called Armand Bayou I-Plan. A public meeting is scheduled for Thursday Jan 24th from 1:30 to 3:30 at Environmental Institute of Houston, North Office Annex at UH-Clear Lake, 2700 Bay Area Blvd, Houston.
Armand Bayou has been identified by the TCEQ as failing to meet state water quality standards.
