DEER PARK ISD BOARD OF TRUSTEESCALLING FOR TAX RATE INCREASE ELECTION Saturday, December 15, 2012On October 8, 2012 the board of trustees with Deer Park ISD passed and approved a tax ratification election to be held.
Why is Deer Park ISD holding an election? They approved a tax rate that exceeds the rollback tax rate. Since this rate exceeds the rollback tax rate, by law they are required to hold an election to let the people decide if they want their school property taxes to increase or not. The current school property tax rate is $1.3967 per $100 valuation.
If the TRE (Tax Ratification Election) passes the rate will be $1.5267. An increase of 11.24% higher per $100 valuation than the school district rollback tax rate Read More......

November 12, 2012 marks the first day Spanish toll operator, Cintra, started charging Texas commuters tolls to use SH 130. San Antonio-based Texans Uniting for Reform and Freedom (TURF) and Austin-based Texans for Accountable Government (TAG) object to Texas' first foreign-owned toll road, especially since SH 130 is part of the original Trans Texas Corridor TTC-35 (see it here). Though Cintra invented an innocuous sounding name, like the SH 130 Concession Company, make no mistake, a Spanish company, Cintra, controls and operates SH 130 for the next HALF CENTURY -- and some say it represents a multi-generational theft of public assets.
