ACTION ALERT: SENATE TO TAKE UP HOS AMENDMENT SOON

The Senate is expected to take up the transportation appropriations bill that includes the Collins Amendment suspending the restrictions on using the 34-hour restart later today and ATA expects an amendment to remove the Collins language will be offered. ATA believes the amendment, to be offered by Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), could be brought up as soon as this afternoon or evening.

In order to ensure that the Collins Amendment is retained, ATA is asking members to contact their Senators today and ask them to:
  • SUPPORT retaining Senator Collins' (R-ME) Hours of Service Restart Study language in the FY 2015 T-HUD Appropriations bill AND
  • OPPOSE an effort by Senator Booker (D-NJ) to strike all of the Collins' language from the FY2015 T-HUD Appropriations bill.
