We have a new look. We've not only updated our logo, but we've changed our name to the California Business Alliance (CBA) for a Clean Economy and redesigned our website, our Facebook page and our Twitter feed as we celebrate our 5th anniversary.

While our name has changed, our mission remains the same - the CBA is a community of businesses who believe that a healthy and prosperous future for California depends on a clean and efficient economy.

I hope you will "like" us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter. When you do, we'll make sure to follow your social media feeds in return so that we can mutually promote our work.

Please encourage other businesses in your community to join the CBA so we can continue to grow the chorus of small and mainstream businesses that believe in California's clean economy.

As always, thank you for your ongoing support.

Ruben Guerra and Susan Frank:
Don't delay on clean air law

You may have seen some ads or read The Fresno Bee editorial ("Head off big fuel price hike," Aug. 3) that suggest "special interests" are going to cause gas prices to go up in January as a result of transportation fuels being covered under California's clean energy and climate law, Assembly Bill 32.

We want to set the record straight, as business leaders who have long supported the state's clean-air policies. Perhaps we are "special" in that not only do we represent thousands of California businesses, but we are joined by tens of thousands of workers and residents who continue to voice their support for AB 32 year in and year out.

California and Mexico to Advance Clean Energy Future Benefiting Businesses on Both Sides of the Border

By Ruben Aronin, CBA Deputy Director

Last month, I had the pleasure of representing the nearly 1,300 members of the California Business Alliance as a delegate on California Governor Jerry Brown's Trade Mission to Mexico. The impressive delegation included numerous senior state government officials, incoming State Senate pro Tem-elect Kevin DeLen, 14 other state legislators as well as more than 90 business and clean energy leaders from across California.

The purpose of the trip was to strengthen and broaden relations around clean energy, trade and education. During the trip, Governor Brown met with President Nieto and his senior ministers and signed several MOUs to implement a more robust partnership around these critical issues.

New Clean Energy Jobs Report
Something to Celebrate this Labor Day

CBA member E2 just released its quarterly jobs report showing that the number of new clean energy and clean transportation jobs doubled from last year. California along with Arizona and Michigan led the country in new clean energy jobs. These jobs pay better than most and are creating new careers for many people. You can review all of the findings in a new report.

The report goes on to say that "through its groundbreaking AB 32 legislation, California has become a national -- international -- leader in clean energy." E2's report shows that "more than 2,500 clean energy and clean transportation jobs were announced in California in the second quarter of this year, ranking it No. 2 behind only Arizona. The Golden State has consistently been No. 1 or No. 2 in clean energy job announcements ever since E2 started tracking clean energy jobs several years ago."

Green Amenities for the Workplace: Plug-in Electric Vehicle Charging

There are close to 100,000 plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) in California with more hitting the road every month. While most charging takes place at home, workplaces provide the next best place to charge a PEV.  Workplace charging benefits employees by giving them the ability to drive more all-electric miles and benefits the employers by improving their "green" image and by attracting and retaining highly skilled employees who drive electric.

How to get started? The California PEV Collaborative offers resources that can walk you through the installations steps, while highlighting important considerations and providing a range of case studies and operational policies for businesses to successfully install PEV charging.

The PEV Collaborative is a public-private organization working to move the PEV market forward in California and supports the development of charging infrastructure in a growing number of workplaces. Find the latest workplace charging resources here:

Installing charging stations at your workplace can be a big project; however, the rewards can be great for both your business and your employees.

By Christine Kehoe, Executive Director of the California PEV Collaborative. Christine Kehoe joined the Plug-In Electric Vehicle Collaborative as executive director in January 2013. Previously, Christine served in elected office for 19 years including 4 years in the California Assembly and 8 years in the state Senate.
