We head into spring with some impressive news about California's job and economic growth including reports of the explosive expansion of solar that accounted for more than half of America's new photovoltaic installations in 2013 at a market value of close to $7 billion employing 43,700 workers in California.

My colleague, Ruben Aronin, writes in a new Business Alliance blogpost that clean cars are electrifying the California marketplace and that we're well on our way toward the Governor's goal of 1.5 million electric vehicles on the road by 2025.

Clean Cars Electrify the California Marketplace

By Ruben Aronin, Assistant Director, California Business Alliance

Electric vehicles (EVs) are on the move in California and across the country. On March 7, I had the opportunity to attend a day-long Governor's Summit on Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEVs) at the California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA) headquarters in Sacramento that attracted more than 200 automakers, utility executives, state and local government officials, and nonprofit leaders from throughout the state. The summit was held to discuss the growing ZEV marketplace and to identify obstacles and opportunities toward meeting Governor Jerry Brown's goal of having 1.5 million ZEVs on the road by 2025. I'm pleased to report that California is well on its way to meeting the Governor's goals and also is helping to lead ZEV adoption nationally and globally.

Energy Upgrade California
Announces New Climate Credit

Millions of Californians will see savings on their electricity bill - in April and October for residential customers and monthly for small businesses - from a state program to fight climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The Climate Credit is designed to help all of us in California fight climate change and clean the air. You don't need to do anything to get the credit, but if you want to join California's efforts to tackle climate change, there's a lot you can do. You can use the savings on your electricity bills to save even more money and help the environment by investing in energy saving home upgrades, including more efficient lights and appliances.
