Greetings!

The past month has seen a flurry of California-led clean energy and clean transportation initiatives extending to regional and national partnerships that will significantly advance our growing clean economy.

Last week, Governor Brown, Governor Inslee of Washington, Governor Kitzhaber of Oregon, and British Columbia Premier Clark signed the Pacific Coast Action Plan on Climate Change. California and seven other states launched an initiative to get 3.3 million EVs on the road in the next dozen years. And a new California Energy Commission Report was released that shows that dramatic progress is underway in the state's transportation fuels market.

As always, you can check out the latest news and op-eds from Business Alliance members and other opinion leaders by reading this

California, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia Leaders Join Forces to Combat Climate Change

The leaders of British Columbia, California, Oregon and Washington signed the Pacific Coast Action Plan on Climate and Energy on October 28, committing their governments and a region that represents the world's fifth largest economy to a comprehensive and far-reaching strategic alignment to combat climate change and promote clean energy. The West Coast Leaders committed to accounting for the costs of carbon, clean fuel standards, and other clean energy priorities for the region of 53 million people.

For California, the agreement builds on international agreements with China and Quebec to combat climate change, California Governor Jerry Brown said, "California isn't waiting for the rest of the world before it takes action on climate change."

Governors Announce Bold Initiative to Put 3.3 Million Zero Emission Vehicles on the Road by 2025

Governors from eight states including California announced a groundbreaking initiative to put 3.3 million zero emission vehicles (ZEVs) on the roads in their states within a dozen years.

These governors have joined forces to revolutionize the automobile market by promoting ZEVs. The use of these clean vehicles will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve air quality and public health, enhance energy diversity, save consumers money, and promote economic growth.

ZEVs include battery-electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid-electric vehicles, and hydrogen fuel-cell-electric vehicles. These technologies can be used in passenger cars, trucks and transit buses.
