"Service is our Prayer" - How this Covenant Came to Be
Service Leader:  Emrys Staton
Sunday, April 17 at 9:30 AM & 11:15 AM
The language of our covenant hearkens back to the late 1800s, as both Unitarians and Universalists kept moving further away from explicitly Christian beliefs and tried to open up to the growing humanist values and principles. We will explore the history of this development, and see how it resonates with us today.

Phoenix Allies for Community Health

Sunday, April 17 at 9:30 AM & 11:15 AM
Phoenix Allies for Community Health provides volunteer-led, patient centered health services to medically marginalized people, with respect and cultural humility.  The main project of PACH is an all-volunteer-run free primary care clinic in Phoenix, catering to the uninsured and underserved.  The PACH Clinic primarily treats chronic diseases, as well as providing treatment for minor infections and women's healthcare.  The Clinic has developed a robust referral network of medical specialists for patients to receive low cost or free specialty care, when needed.  Funding from UUCP will allow the Clinic to see more patients, as they are totally dependent on volunteers and contributions.

Meet a Stewardship Ambassador Sunday
The Stewardship Ambassador ministry allows members to engage one on one in sharing the difference UUCP makes in our lives as well as share and learn from each other how we give to support it. It's also a great way for members to find new connections! We have heard over and over from our Ambassadors that this has opened the door to new friendships that might not have happened otherwise. Stop by the Stewardship Table during Coffee Hour to meet with an Ambassador and learn about our goals for next year.

Stewardship Campaign Update - 10 Days Left!
We have ten more days left of our Stewardship Campaign with a goal to get as close to $500,000 as we can.  As of today we have reached 67% of this goal.  We have received 11 new pledges and 48 households have increased their pledge by 10% or more! We need an overall increase of 10 % in pledge renewals to reach this goal.  We know not everyone will be able to increase their giving. If you are able to increase your pledge by 15 - 20 % OR make a new pledge of $300 or more, this would make a huge difference in helping us grow our flame and shed light on our vision to be a Spiritual Community for Our Time!

Knit/Crochet Materials Drive
Some of the people detained in the Eloy Immigration Detention Center are knitting and crocheting things to give to organizations that help needy people. The UUCP Sewing and Craft Circle is collecting yarn, knitting needles, and crochet hooks to donate to their project. Baby yarn is especially needed. Please leave any items you want to donate on the island in the UUCP office, and Geoff Anderla will call us to pick it up. Contact: Lori Rubin-Williamson below or 480-234-1476.

End of Life Planning Seminar
Saturday, May 14th, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM
The Unitarian Universalist Foundation of Phoenix invites you to Save the Date! On Saturday, May 14th, from 9:00 to 10:30 at UUCP we will be offering a seminar on end-of-life planning.  As we think about planning what we will leave behind when our lives are over, our first thoughts are often wills and trusts and "estate" planning; we tend to focus on our tangible assets and how they will be passed on. We might also spend some time planning ahead, gathering information and leaving instructions for our memorial services and for cremation or burial or donating our bodies to science. Attorney and UUCP member Robert Back will talk about wills and trusts; Rev. Kathleen Baughman will have information about future health care directives and Emrys Staton will share with us about planning memorial services.  The Funeral Consumers Alliance of Arizona will be on hand as well with many free resources. Direct your questions and RSVPs to Heidi below or call 602-840-8400 x202
