Congregational Picnic

Join us for food and fun for all ages at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park, at 7301 East Indian Bend Road, Scottsdale. The Membership Committee will provide beverages, plates and utensils. All you need to bring is a potluck dish (no BBQing, please) and your appetite. You will have the opportunity to compete in relay races for fabulous prizes! "Slavery by Another Name" Documentary screening

This PBS documentary film challenges one of our country's most cherished assumptions: the belief that slavery ended with Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation of 1863. The real history shows how in the years following the Civil War, insidious new forms of forced labor emerged in the American South, keeping hundreds of thousands of African Americans in bondage in brutal systems that would persist until the onset of World War II.

Join us as we celebrate the life of Max Kaslo. Max peacefully passed at home on Monday, January 11, 2016, just nine days shy of his ninety-ninth birthday.
Young Adult Small Group
Thursday, February 25, 6:45 PM-8:45 PM in Annex C
The young adult small group is a place for "younger" adults to get together and talk about issues important to us. We provide a safe space to share ideas and challenge each other respectfully. We are an open group and anyone who feels they are a young adult-regardless of age-is welcome to join and share their thoughts with us. We meet on the second Tuesday and fourth Thursday of each month at 6:45 PM in Annex C. Contact Caitlin below for more information and to receive calendar reminders for the Young Adult Group meeting.

Community Night
Thursday, February 25, at 6:00 PM, Johnson Room
Join us for dinner and conversation starting at 6:00 PM. We will provide the main dish (including a vegetarian option) and a side dish. If you are able, bring a side dish or dessert to share. Chalice Kids will start at 6:30 PM and we have activities planned for all the kids. The suggested donation is $5/adult, $2/children under 10, $10/family. Board of Trustees Meeting

We invite all members to join us for the monthly Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday, February 23 in the Johnson Room. Break bread and socialize with us starting at 6:00 PM, and the meeting begins at 6:30 PM. Guests are invited to address the board during guest comments at the beginning and observe the remainder of the meeting. "On the Threshold" In part two, we will continue our journey into the past to reclaim the stories of powerful women to be found in ancient Judaism and Christianity. We will also look at the global silencing and brutalization of women that accompanied the rise of patriarchal religion and society. Finally we will celebrate the exciting new-world view and theology that has emerged in our time, and explore the personal and social changes that may be suggested by that new world-view and theology. Couples Enrichment Program
Wednesdays, March 9 - April 13 2016 at 7:00 PM in the Johnson Room
Registration Deadline is March 9
This is a workshop for couples who want to work on their relationship regardless of how long they have been together.  You will explore how to relate to each other and strengthen and rejuvenate your connection to each other.  Topics will include healthy communications, respecting differences, resolving conflicts, healing past hurts, relating to your larger community and others.  There will be a discussion of each topic, couples will then discuss questions between themselves and have a follow up group discussion.  As you explore good couples relationships, you will also explore how to apply the 7 principles of UU to create a more compassionate and deepening connection to each other. 5th and 6th Grade OWL Registration is now open
UUCP welcomes religious education students in 5th and 6th Grades to participate in a comprehensive education program called Our Whole Lives, or OWL, that begins Sunday, February 28th. Registration for Our Whole Lives is available online herePlease note that OWL is an independent program, with a suggested contribution of $50. For those in need, alternative options for payment are available; please see Director of Children's Ministry, Katie Resendiz, for more information.

For your child to participate in the OWL program, their religious education registration forms must be current. For your convenience, registration forms for RE are now available in print and online! Landscape Cleanup Day
