The Meaning of Tradition
Service Leader:  Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray
Sunday, December 6 at 9:30 AM Only
Tradition can sometimes feel like a prison - rote practice disconnected from present meaning. The histories and stories from which tradition arise may not hold any value for us today, or worse, they may do harm. What are the traditions that are worth holding on to? What is the value of tradition in our lives?

Tradition 2.0 Beta
Service Leader:  Emrys Staton
Sunday, December 13 at 9:30 AM & 11:15 AM
Unitarian Universalism, like other long-standing faiths, finds itself in the position of examining its own inherited traditions and modifying them to remain relevant for our present time. However, there are other long-standing cultures which had their customs and traditions erased through the violence of colonization. What does it look like to re-create lost traditions that can restore cultural identity and pride, while also contributing to justice movements in the world?
Share the Plate with Puente
Sunday, December 13 at 9:30 AM & 11:15 AM
The Puente Human Rights Movement is a grassroots migrant justice organization in Phoenix. Puente develops, educates, and empowers migrant communities to protect and defend themselves and their families. Puente acts successfully to reduce the diminishment of families waylaid by the detention and deportation pipeline. Puente members help one another and invite UUCP's Immigration Ministry into a collective space where legal, educational, arts, and social programs happen. The shared plate will strengthen these programs and purchase holiday gifts for children impacted by detention.

Drop In Small Group
Thursday, December 17, at 7:00 PM in Annex H
The Third Thursday Small Group Ministry (SGM) is a drop-in group so that people who are not able to commit to a group all the time can come when they are able. It is also for those who are new to SGMs and would like to try it out. We welcome and encourage  newcomers all the time. Some of our participants enjoy coming every session and we    encourage this too. We are very flexible. Our topics are the same as the other SGMs which follow the monthly theme, in depth and in a secure environment, consistent with Reverend Susan's sermons. For further information please contact Mike Sheffer at (702)353-0980 or email him below.
