Community Night Help Needed

Thursday Nights

Do you enjoy cooking?  Would you like the opportunity to cook favorite foods (including a vegetarian option) for a crowd? Want to become part of a super team of volunteers who feed our Community Night Dinner participants?  Grab a friend and get cooking! 

We're looking for cooks who can commit to cooking a Community Night Dinner once a month on Thursday nights.  Please contact Kristina Benner with your interest at 602-840-8400 ext 204.

Join us for a journey through some of our hymnals' rare musical treasures. By singing, we become more aware of ourselves, and by listening to each other sing, we become more aware of each other.
New Day Center Meal

Live out the UU commitment to serving those in need by serving a meal to the 150 of the parents and children on the UNOM New Day Center. This is a one-time, two-hour commitment. Please email Susan or call her at 602-840-8400 x 203.

September 13:  Water Communion - Rediscovering Covenant

This all-ages service celebrates community. It is also our annual ingathering, a kick-off to the year. Everyone is invited to bring water from a place that holds personal significance. We mingle these waters together as a symbol of how lives are woven together in covenant and community

Young Adult Small Group
Tuesday, September 8, at 6:45 PM in Annex C
The young adult small group is a place for "younger" adults to get together and talk about issues important to us. We provide a safe space to share ideas and challenge each other respectfully. We are an open group and anyone who feels they are a "young adult"-regardless of age-
is welcome to join and share their thoughts with us. Email Caitlin for more information. 

Want to Sing in the Choir?
Want to sing with our choir, just for an evening? Our choir season opens with an "all-sing" rehearsal on Wed. Sept. 9, 7:00-9:00 PM, and a single service on Sunday, September, 13 that are open to anyone, without any need to commit to being part of the choir for the rest of our season. People who have never sung in a group, singers who are too busy for weekly rehearsals, people who want to try us out, choir alumni who no longer sing with us, friends and family members- all are welcome! We will be providing childcare during rehearsal; singing parents, please let Benjie Messer know in advance how many children you'll be bringing.

Meet a representative of our Membership Committee and our Children's Ministry program in the front foyer at 9:45 AM for a brief tour of our campus. You will have a chance to learn about our programs and ask questions in this informal introduction to UUCP. No sign up. Just show up!

Just a reminder that we start our two-service schedule on September 20 with the first service starting at 9:30 AM and the second service starting at 11:15 AM. We have our coffee hour in between our two services with coffee, snacks and fellowship in the Johnson Room.
SHINING NIGHT: The Music of Morten Lauridsen
Sunday September 20, 4:00 PM, at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts
KBACH Radio invites you to take part in a very special event, Sunday September 20, 4PM, at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts: "SHINING NIGHT: The Music of Morten Lauridsen." This one time collaborative effort features the Orpheus Male Chorus of Phoenix, Prescott Chorale,a Community Chorus especially formed for this event.

The internationally renowned, Grammy award-winning composer will perform with the choirs. Lauridsen was named an "American Choral Master" by the National Endowment for the Arts and received the National Medal of Arts "for his composition of radiant choral works combining musical beauty, power and spiritual depth that have thrilled audiences worldwide"

Staged as a multidisciplinary performance, noted Arizonan photographer Dianne Dietrich Leis' majestic photos of the American Landscape will accompany combined choirs singing John Rutter's "For the Beauty of the Earth," followed by the audience joining the choirs to sing the hymn version.

Calling All Volunteers

The UUCP office is looking for a few good people to help out in the office during the week. Come hang out with Heidi and Geoff in the office and help us with this opportunity for service. Tasks include answering the phone, light computer work, opening mail, and making phone calls, ect.

We have the following shifts available.
