The Grand Canyon Association is the official non-profit partner of the Grand Canyon National Park, raising funds to benefit the park, operating retail shops and visitors centers within the park, and providing premier guided educational classes, hikes, and tours about the national and cultural history of the region.

Sewing And Craft Circle

Saturday, August 15 at 11:00am in the Johnson Room

The Sewing and Craft Circle meets monthly to make simple items to help others. Most recently the group sent children's dresses to Haiti and has started making knapsacks for children being removed from homes by Child Protective Services. Usually the group works together in the Johnson Room one Saturday each month on a drop-in basis between 11 am and 4 pm. Email Lori at the link below for more information.

Labor Day Camping Weekend at SAWUURA

Friday, September 4 - Monday, September 7, 2015

SAWUURA is our own UU 100-acre woods in the Sierra Ancha Wilderness near Young, Arizona (about 4 hrs drive from Phoenix).  Join dozens of other UUs Memorial Day weekend for a relaxing weekend under the stars.  Disconnect from your phones, computers, TVs and share meals, hikes, music and laughter with other nature-lovers.  Meals are provided with the cost of registration. Just bring snacks, drinks, and camping gear.  Registration Fees: $45 per adult ($35 for SAWUURA members) and $25 per child.  Registration Due Date: Friday, August 28. Big Fall Show!

Saturday, September 26th at 6:30pm in the Sancuary

UUCP's fall fundraising concert features Bad Cactus Brass Band. Led by UUCP's music director Benjie Messer, Bad Cactus Brass Band is a is a funky local group with roots in the New Orleans brass band tradition. The New Times named them Phoenix's best traditional New Orleans brass band, and they are known throughout the southwest for their joyful presentations of jazz, gospel, and second line. Various UUCP musicians (to by announced) will open the show.  

Doors open at 6:30pm, UUCP entertainers perform 7:00 - 7:45pm, and Bad Cactus Brass Band plays 8:00 - 8:45pm. Youth can attend for free, and childcare is provided for those too young to enjoy the concert. Adult tickets are on a sliding scale from $10-60; with expected attendance, an average of $20 per ticket will get us to our fundraising goal. All ticket sales benefit UUCP.

Sundays With The Kids

Have you considered joining our children's ministry team? Each Sunday we depend on volunteers to teach, guide, and mentor the youngest members of our congregation.  This year, we are looking for community members to commit to 2-week, 4-week, and 12-week blocks.  Available roles include Subject Leaders/Teachers, Class Guides, and One-on-One mentors.  Please contact Katie Resendiz for more information or to volunteer.

The UUCP office is looking for a few good people to help out in the office during the week. Come hang out with Heidi and Geoff in the office and help us with this opportunity for service. Tasks include answering the phone, light computer work, opening mail, and making phone calls, ect.

Sign The Unity Pledge

The Unity Pledge is an effort by Arizona individuals and businesses to advance workplace equality and equal treatment in housing and hospitality for LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) individuals.  The Scottsdale City Council and Mayor are asking residents and businesses to sign the pledge.  To sign go to www.OpenAz.co.  Even those who do not live in Scottsdale can show support for equality by signing this pledge.
