Share the Plate with the Welcome to America Project
Sunday, June 14
Believing that the world benefits from the talents, perseverance, courage, and heart of resettled refugees, The Welcome to America Project raises money and goods to furnish the homes of new families in the Phoenix area.  Since 2001, more than 2,000 families have been helped and thousands of people have volunteered in some way. WTAP has won a number of awards and is proud to be part of the Phoenix community.  Refugees across the world walk for miles and miles to seek safety. The Welcome to America Project asks, "How far would you go to help them?" Sunday's offering will benefit the Welcome to America Project.

This Sunday at 10:30 AM
June 14:  Auction Sermon:  The Religious Imagination of Justice and Equity: From the Levelers to Dr. King
Service Leader: Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray
Francis Wiget, the auction winner, requested an exploration of the Christian Socialists of 17th century England, the Levelers and the work and theology of Dr. King.  The religious imagination informs how we view an ideal world and there are similarities in the views of the Levelers and Dr. King, as well as in the Hebrew Prophets, Jesus and religious leaders today.

Sunday is the Last Day for UU Door Blessing Chalices
Sunday is the last day of our UU Door Blessing Chalice display before artist Jan Kaplan goes on summer vacation.  Chalice sales will return later in the year in time for the winter holidays.  Thanks to all who have purchased them; 100% of the $2700 raised has been donated to UUCP.  Special orders (non-time sensitive) can be made at any time by contacting Jan per the sample display in the Johnson Room.

Next Sunday at 10:30 AM
June 21:  Re-imagining Fatherhood
Service Leader: Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray
The metaphors we use to understand our experiences actually shape our reality. It is exciting to see the ways that images of fatherhood are changing as that opens up new opportunities and appreciations for fatherhood in all its forms. There is even a place for imagination in creating strong bonds between dads and their children.

Help Us Find Zachary's Box

A very special box with activities for youth engagement has gone missing somewhere on our campus. It is a plastic bin, clear with a white top and labeled as "Zachary's Box".  Inside are special sand, play dough, snacks, and other activities and toys, along with instructions and a pictorial description of activities. It has been missing since early May. If you have seen it or have any ideas on where it may be stashed, please contact Director Anne. Thanks.
