FEATURED THIS WEEK
Kids Kamp and Preschool Open House and Registration

Join us this Saturday, February 21, for an open house play date to kick off enrollment for 2015's UU Kids Kamp and 2015-16 Early Education Cooperative Preschool.  Look for us on the patio between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM with fun and messy activities, representative of the rollicking good time at both these youth offerings.  Kids Kamp is our longstanding summer camp for youth 3-13 and operates Monday - Friday from June 1 -258:30 AM - 1:30 PM with aftercare available until 5:30 PM.  Click here for registration. The Early Education Cooperative Preschool  is a small, family-oriented, play-based preschool that has been in operation at UUCP for over 50 years, serving children from one to five.  Learn more here and register here

February 22:  Living Compassion is Not Easy
Service Leader:
Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray
Compassion seems simple on the surface perhaps. Love, caring, kindness-all good things. They seem simple enough.  But living them when life gets difficult is not easy. The wisdom of compassion challenges our tendencies to self-righteousness, our ego, and it challenges us to live in ways that take practiced discipline. Turns out, it is not so easy.

Board Chat:  Visioning the Future

Sunday, February 22, at 10:45 AM in Annex H

Vision is an image of the future we seek to create. The Board created a Vision Task Force to lead UUCP in conversations to discern and clarify a compelling and inspiring vision for our future. The task force wants to hear from you, members and friends! The following meetings are open to all. The new vision will be used to shape the next set of strategic ends for UUCP.

March 1:  The Road to What!? Is Paved with Good Intentions
Service Leader:  Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray
There is a famous line about where exactly good intentions lead. How does this relate to our theme of intention? How do we need to complicate our thinking about good intent?
UMOM New Day Meal Service Opportunity
Sunday, March 1, at 5:15 PM at UMOM New Day Center
Live out the UU commitment to serving those in need by serving a meal to the residents of the UMOM New Day Center. Volunteers meet at the center at 5:15 PM and help feed a nutritious meal to the 150 parents and children who are living at New Day and rebuilding their lives. This is a great opportunity for singles, couples, families with children (age 8+) or interest groups here at UUCP to be of service, spend time with friends and make new ones. This is a one-time, two-hour commitment. Please email Janet Williams or call her at 602-291-0100.

Did You Know?

In our earliest days, Sunday services were held at Kenilworth School at 5th Avenue and Culver Streets. There was no room for religious education classes, so the kindergarteners met at the sandbox, first and second grades on the steps of the fire escape and third and fourth grades on the baseball bleachers.

Welcoming all in building religious community, called to
share journeys,
grow in spirit,
advance justice.
