How far have we come since the victories of the civil rights movements?  Some say a long way; others today are naming powerfully the ways that racism and discrimination persist even if the language has changed.  On this Martin Luther King, Jr. Sunday, what are the conversations and what are the movements we need today?  
Children's Chapel

Instead of Together Time, a Children's Chapel service for children 5 and older will be on the basketball court at 9:30 AM.  A multi-age Sunday School class will be offered at 11:15 AM.  
Share the Plate:  UUJAZ
Sunday, January 18
UUCP's Share the Plate beneficiary for January is UUJAZ. The Unitarian Universalists Justice Arizona Network (UUJAZ) is a statewide social justice group working on issues ranging from education to immigration and with direct engagement of Arizona state legislators. UUJAZ is holding its annual Day at the Legislature this coming President's Day, February 16th, for which information will be included in Horizons, Compass and Announcements. Last year, over 125 UUs, including from UUCP, met with more than 25 legislators. On Sunday, January 18, all unspecified contributions to the offering will benefit UUJAZ.

Sometimes courage seems reserved for leaders and heroes of the past. But courage is something we also see in lives that never become famous, in choices that no one sees. Let's look at the courage that shows up in everyday people's lives.

Couples Enrichment

Thursday evenings 6:45-8:30 PM from February 5 -March 12

Couples Enrichment will offer a series of six workshops for same-sex or mixed-sex loving adult partners who wish to enhance their committed long-term relationship. For further description and to register, click here.

UU Day at the Legislature

Unitarian Universalists from across the state will gather in Phoenix to build relationships with their legislators and prepare us to continue our conversation throughout the 2015 Arizona Legislative Session. Last year, over 125 UUs, including from UUCP, met with more than 25 legislators.


Please save the date (February 16th) and join us on President's Day in Phoenix. You can sign up to attend here. Additionally, please watch for information on an optional training session to be held prior to the event. This can help to familiarize you with some of the issues including immigration, education, health care and more. The annual Day at the Legislature is a project of the Unitarian Universalist Justice Arizona Network.
