Registration for Small Groups begins now!
The Small Group Ministry provides a space to connect with others and tend to your heart and spirit, as well as explore UUCP's monthly worship themes in greater depth.  Groups are forming now.  Registration is available online or by emailing Ellie Anderla.  Facilitators will also be available to answer questions and sign people up after both services on Sunday, September 21.

The following groups are open to all for registration:
  • 1st Mondays, 7:00 PM with Caroli Peterson (begins in October)
  • 2nd Wednesdays, 1:00 PM with Janet Bickley and Anne Lackey (begins in October)
  • 2nd and 4th Thursdays, 1:00 PM with Ellie Anderla and Ellie Murphy (begins in October)
  • 2nd Thursdays, 6:45 PM with Vince Waldron (begins in October)
  • 3rd Thursdays, 9:30 AM off-site with Rev. Linda and Ellie Anderla (meeting now)
  • 1st and 3rd Sundays, 5:30 PM off-site with Lydia Yanak and Ruth Braunstein (begins in November)
The following identity-based groups are open for registration:
  • Senior Women's Group - 2nd and 4th Tuesdays, 12:00 PM with Peggy Paden and Dorothy Lewin (begins in October)
  • Men's Group - 2nd Wednesdays, 7:00 PM with Michel Gareau (begins in October)
  • GLBTQI Group - 1st and 3rd Wednesdays, 7:00 PM with Jim Sorgatz (begins in October)
  • Parent's Group (especially parents of young(er) children) - 3rd Wednesdays, 6:30 PM with Jonny and Carrie Lifshitz (begins September 17)
  • UU Christians - 2nd and 4th Thursdays, 7:00 PM with Denise Selvey (begins in October)
  • Young Adult Group - 2nd and 4th Thursdays, 6:45 PM with Caitlin Tuffin and Kathryn Kosmider (meeting now)

Jeannette Pazos, Director of Home of Hope and Peace (HEPAC)
Sunday, September 14, at 12:30 PM in the Johnson Room      
All are invited to a presentation by Jeannette Pazos, Director of HEPAC, to tell us more about the HEPAC organization's services and ways to become involved with HEPAC. Ms. Pazos is in community every day with impoverished families with children at HEPAC, just south of the Arizona-Mexico border in Nogales. A light buffet lunch will be available during the presentation. In conjunction with this presentation, Sunday, September 14, we will Share the Plate with HEPAC.

UUCP Legislative Team?
With election season underway, it won't be long until we have a new batch of legislators to visit along with the UU Justice Arizona Network (UUJAZ). For each of the last two years, UUs visited with dozens of senators and representatives during the UU Day at the Legislature. If you are interested in helping with a UUCP legislative team that will support UUJAZ-- including its upcoming October 4th workshop at UU Surprise, please email Bill Lace.

  • Faith Like a River: The UU Film Series. Facilitator: Randy Miller. Wednesdays, October 1 - November 19, 7:00 PM. This film series will explore through eight two-hour sessions (using 6 films, documents, select readings and discussions) the historical development of Unitarian and Universalist ideas and practices over the past two thousand years. Your New and Gently Used Items Can Help Refugee Children
Sunday only, September 14, between 9:30 AM and noon.

We have an opportunity to help Central American refugee children soon to be placed with Phoenix foster families. The children are in need of the following: 
New or gently used:
Clothing, all sizes  
School/art supplies
Toys/activities
New:
Underwear, shoes, and socks (all sizes)
Toiletries
To donate, please bring your items to the table at the rear of the UUCP  Sanctuary on Sunday only, September 14. We cannot accept donations during the week. Bunk-beds and mattresses are also greatly needed, but call first for large items. Please call Kay Grams at 480-200-4044 with questions.
Sewing and Craft Circle
Saturday, September 20, at 11:00 AM in the Johnson Room
Drop in any time between 11:00 AM and 3:30 PM to machine or hand stitch, knit or crochet. We make simple clothing for those in need and tote bags for kids removed from their homes by social workers. We range widely in skill - sewing simple straight seams without patterns to more complex. Bring your own machine or not. We can also use help cutting, sorting and, of course, chatting too! For more information, email Lori
