THIS SUNDAY AT 10:30 AM
August 10:  An Open-Source Tradition
Service Leader: Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray
One of the strengths of Unitarian Universalism is that we claim many sources of our religious tradition. We don't take any of those sources in their entirety, but borrow wisdom and teachings and make them our own. In this way, we can think of ourselves as an open-source religion.
Starting Point

Sunday, August 10, at 9:45 AM in the Lobby
If you are interested in a brief tour of the UUCP campus and some introductory information about our congregation, please meet our Assistant Minister, Rev. Linda Lawrence, in the front lobby at 9:45 AM on Sunday, August 10.

World Travelers will Visit China!
After a lovely visit to Spain last week, our World Travelers Religious Education program will visit China on Sunday. Our tour guide is 6th grade student Dylan Lifshitz who will share information on China's culture and heritage. Throughout the summer, our multi-age children's religious education program has visited countries throughout the world, with visiting tour guides who are native, have visited or have a special interest in the countries visited.
NEXT SUNDAY AT 10:30 AM
August 17:  Seek Not Afar
Service Leader: Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray
There is a healthy tension between seeking knowledge outside of ourselves and searching for understanding within ourselves. Having explored the sources that inform our faith, now we'll turn to the wisdom we can find when we search within ourselves.
Share the Plate with Justa Center
Justa Center is located in a nondescript, older building a few blocks east of the capitol. It is the only day center designed to help homeless senior citizens in Phoenix. It does not receive any government funding, relying solely on private donations. Justa provides a safe place for seniors to get off the street in the hot or cold weather, to receive assistance with social security or pension problems, or to find employment and housing. There will be brochures on the table in the rear of the Sanctuary if you'd like additional information. All donations next  Sunday not otherwise designated will be given to Justa Center.

A soul that longs for something is a soul that is growing - one way or another, smaller or larger. What have your longings done to your life and its horizons - broadened them or crippled them?
