Farewell Party for Connie

Saturday, July 26, at 4:00 PM in the Sanctuary
Our beloved choir director, Connie Jahrmarkt, is resigning at the end of July. Please join us in the sanctuary at 4:00 PM on Saturday, July 26, to thank and appreciate Connie for her sixteen years of wonderful service at UUCP! This farewell party is also a last chance for us to make music with Connie while she's working at UUCP; so bring your voices, your instruments and your ears. (And if you bring your appetite, we will have some refreshing snacks.)

As Connie leaves, one of the most important things we can do is honor and appreciate her fully. Many of you will do that individually, and the congregation will also be giving Connie a financial gift. If you would like to contribute to this gift, just write a tax deductible check to the congregation and note "for Connie" in the memo line.

Please be in touch with Benjie Messer, if you have any questions about Connie's farewell party, and with Heidi Parmenter about contributing to the gift.

June 29:  Welcoming Diversity
Service Leader:  Heidi Singer
People with different cultural identities, experiences and perspectives have much to offer each other, including opportunities for personal and spiritual growth.  To welcome diversity in our lives and in our congregation, there is a process of self-reflection and action that can make this easier and more likely to succeed.  We will share some highlights from "Daring to Dream," an Adult Faith Development course this year, as we hope to inspire you to welcome diversity.
World Travelers Visit Malaysia
airplane-header2.jpg
We have visited Egypt and Ireland and now, our World Travelers are off to Malaysia.  Our summer religious education program for children includes visits to countries all over the world to sample local culture, food, crafts and art.  Our tour guide this week is  an experienced world traveler, Gary Ezzel, who will tell a folk tale as the kids make Malaysian shadow puppets.  For more information or to volunteer to help out, contact Noel Arring
NEXT SUNDAY AT 10:30 AM
July 6:  The People, Yes!
Service leaders:  Rev. Linda and Gary Lawrence
Carl Sandburg's book-length poem was published in 1936 during the Great Depression. Written in the language of everyday people, its humor and themes resonate even today. On this Independence Day weekend, we use Sandburg's work to celebrate American perseverance in the face of hardship.

New Day Meal Service
Sunday, July 6, at 5:00 PM
Live out the UU commitment to serving those in need by serving a meal to the residents of the UMOM New Day Center. Volunteers meet at the center at 5:00 PM and help feed a nutritious meal to the 150 parents and children who are living at New Day and rebuilding their lives. This is a great opportunity for singles, couples, families with children (age 8+) or interest groups here at UUCP to be of service, spend time with friends and make new ones. This is a one-time, two-hour commitment. Please email Michael Hipps or call him at 602-488-1188.
