FEATURED THIS WEEK
UU World Travelers Bon Voyage Party
Our multi-age summer religious education program for children kicks off this Sunday with a Bon Voyage party as our youth embark on UU World Travelers, a curriculum designed to enhance learning about the world around us.  Each week, our children will learn about other countries through congregational-member tour guides who will share stories, pictures, activities, food, arts, and other activities with the kids.  We will eat ice cream and drink sparkling cider today as we launch into a summer of virtual travel to Ireland, Egypt, Malaysia, India, Austria, Spain, and Canada. For more information or to volunteer as a tour guide, contact Noel Arring.
THIS SUNDAY AT 10:30 AM
June 8:  Welcoming All:  Hospitality as Spiritual Practice
Service Leader: Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray
Hospitality as a way of welcoming and meeting others can be a deep expression of our values, because hospitality at its best expresses our recognition of the inherent worth and dignity of all people.  How might we live this spirit of hospitality?
Starting Point Tour
Sunday, June 8, at 9:45 AM in the Lobby
If you are interested in a brief tour of the UUCP campus and some introductory information about our congregation, please meet Membership Committee member Caroli Peterson in the front lobby at 9:45 am on Sunday, June 8th.

Share the Plate Sunday:  Arizona Queer Undocumented Immigrant Project
Arizona Queer Undocumented Immigrant Project (AZ-QUIP) empowers LGBTQ-identified undocumented people, youth, and allies through grassroots organizing, leadership development, education, and advocacy.  QUIP spans the LGBTQ and immigrant rights movements with a goal of equality for all.  Initiatives include (among many others) "Double-Coming Out" Forums that are interactive and educational media, creating conversation as to how to integrate the UndocuQueer within immigration reform, as well as how to integrate the UndocuQueer within LGBTQ rights.  All offerings on June 8 not otherwise designated will go to AZ-QUIP.
NEXT SUNDAY AT 10:30 AM
June 15:  Welcoming Fathers and Fatherhood
Service Leader: Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray
In honor of Father's Day, we'll reflect on the role of fathers in our lives and even how fatherhood has and continues to change.  This change brings opportunities, but also its own challenges.

Maritime Canada (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland & Labrador) will be presented on June 13 by Barbara Cawthorne at UUCP sanctuary from 7 - 8 PM.  The Canadian Maritimes were inhabited by the Vikings, Portuguese whalers, French Acadians, English, Scotch and Irish who made fishing a way of life.  Interesting sights in the Maritimes include free moving icebergs by Newfoundland in summertime, tidal bore at the Bay of Fundy, National Parks, and the scenic Cabot Trail.  Call Barbara Cawthorne with questions at 480-994-1452.

Addictions Discussion Group

Saturday, June 14, at 4:30 PM in Annex B
This addictions support group meets to discuss various compulsive and addictive behaviors.  We provide a safe haven to discuss how our week has been and to talk openly about our spiritual beliefs.  It is designed for those with stable recovery (we ask for 6 months of sobriety).  Behaviors that qualify for the group are compulsive gambling, sex addiction, alcoholism, drug addiction including prescription pills, eating disorders including overeating, bulimia and anorexia, compulsive shopping, and workaholism.  Your anonymity will be protected.  The group is not appropriate for co-dependency or family and friends of addicts.  We are not affiliated with any 12 step program, do not pass the basket, and do not say the Lord's prayer.  Our only ritual is the lighting of the chalice.  The only rule is to keep what we hear here here - hear hear!  For  more information, call Gene at 480-361-9067.

I would love to live like a river flows, carried by the surprise of its own unfolding.  --John O'Donohue
