THIS SUNDAY, ONE SERVICE AT 10:30 AM
May 4: Religious Education Sunday
Service Leader: Susan Frederick-Gray & Anne Byrne
A sense of worth or dignity is often enhanced by teaching and learning.  This Religious Education service will highlight how our teachers and students "Pass It On!" to one another.  Our elementary-aged religious education students will share presentations of learning from the last year, and we will express appreciation to our volunteer teachers and advisors.
UUCP Board Chat - What Next Year Will Look Like?
Sunday, May 4, 9:00-10:00 AM or 12:00-1:00 PM in the Johnson Room
What will next year's ministry look like?  Based on the outcome of our Stewardship Campaign, we will need to make some changes in our goals for next year.  Join the Board and Rev. Susan to hear how we are weighing priorities and changes for next year. We have extended childcare hours this Sunday to accomodate these meetings.
New Day Meal Service

5:00 PM at the UMOM New Day Center

Live out the UU commitment to serving those in need by serving a meal to the residents of the UMOM New Day Center.  Volunteers meet at the center at 5:00 PM and help feed a nutritious meal to the 150 parents and children who are living at New Day and rebuilding their lives.  This is a great opportunity for singles, couples, families with children (age 8+) or interest groups here at UUCP to be of service, spend time with friends and make new ones.  This is a one-time, two-hour commitment.  Please email Michael Hipps or call him at 602-488-1188.

NEXT SUNDAY, ONE SERVICE AT 10:30 AM
May 11: Why are You You
Service Leader: UUCP's Youth Ministry
This service is an opportunity for our young religious Unitarian Universalists to share their wisdom and their questions about identity.
Starting Point
9:45 AM on May 11 in the Lobby
Meet one of our Welcoming Ministry Ambassadors,  and Anne Byrne, our Children's Ministry Director in the front foyer at 10:45 for a brief tour of our campus.  You will have a chance to learn about our programs and ask questions in this informal introduction to UUCP.  No sign up.  Just show up!
Share the Plate: de Benneville Youth Scholarships
De Benneville Pines is a retreat and conference center located in the San Bernardino National Forest about 90 miles east of Los Angeles.  The camp is surrounded by forest.  It is affiliated with the Pacific Southwest District of the UUA and provides camps and retreat weekends for all ages.  Our high schoolers have asked that we donate the Share the Plate collection this month to the Student Scholarship program, which allows all UU youth the opportunity to enjoy the camp.

Here's what's happening. Installation of the new carpet has just been completed and it looks great.  New chairs will be shipping from California on May 20 and should be here a few days later.  The old chairs will be donated to Arcosanti and to three immigration support groups. The accessibility construction is expected in July after camp ends.  The next step in Sanctuary sound enhancement will be acoustic measurements after the new chairs are in place.  The team is extremely grateful to everyone who helped empty and restore the Sanctuary, lobby, and offices.

Please remember that we have a suggestion box on the counter of Office 2.  We have received some excellent suggestions and some funny ones. Here are a few quick responses:  Several people asked about blocking the bright light from the tall window behind the choir, we researching this.  The ceiling lights which are out in the restrooms is a problem with the fixtures and Porter Construction is following up.  In the kitchen we will be doing some painting and sprucing up the bulletin boards.  We are going to have a 1950 style kitchen shower (more news coming).  The Meditation Garden has been cleaned up and replanted, no other changes are planned.  No, we do not intend to plant any oleanders on our property.  Yes, please keep the ideas and suggestions coming.

This Annual Survey is a tool we will use to evaluate our Strategic Ends as well as create a baseline to track changes and improvements over time.

The survey should take 10 - 15 minutes to complete.  Thank you very much for your time and your input! The deadline for completing the survey is May 12, 2014.
