April 13:  Finding Wisdom from Adversity
Service Leader: Susan Frederick-Gray

Can we grow wise through adversity?  We all face adversity and challenges, and researchers are finding that how we move through difficult situations can affect whether or not we grow in positive ways from the experiences or grow in negativity.

Share the Plate:  Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC)

UUSC believes that all people have inherent dignity, power, and rights.  In partnership, UUSC members, activists, and grassroots organizations throughout the world ensure that those fundamental human rights are realities for everyone.  UUSC works specifically with people and communities who are denied their rights and who are not served by mainstream human rights organizations.  Every day UUSC is taking action to advance a full array of human rights, which include forgotten conflicts and natural disasters.  Find out more online.

In honor of our Welcoming Ministry volunteers, all are invited to enjoy cake and coffee in the Johnson Room after both services on April 13.  There will be appreciation gifts for current Greeters and Ushers at the WM table on the patio.  If you sign up today to become a Greeter or Usher, you'll also receive a thank you gift!  FYI, volunteer job descriptions are available at the WM table.
NEXT SUNDAY, ONE SERVICE AT 9:30 AM
April 20:  Celebration Sunday- An Atmosphere of Wisdom
Service Leader: Susan Frederick-Gray
On this Easter Sunday, we are mindful that Jesus was known as a wisdom teacher.  The researcher John Meachum describes something called "a wisdom atmosphere," a place where wisdom can grow and is encouraged.  It involves making room for uncertainty, tension and ambiguity, just like we find in Unitarian Universalism.  How do we create a wisdom atmosphere in our lives and in our congregation?

This Service is the close of our Stewardship Campaign.  We will have only one service at 9:30 AM and an all-congregation light brunch at 11:00 AM (Congregational photo at 10:30!)  The children will have a separate Children's Service at 9:30 AM.

UUCP's Variety Hour Coming Soon!
jazz-musicians-blue.jpg Thursday, May 1, at 7:00 PM in the sanctuary
UUCP's Variety Hour is a low-key, all-ages, anything-goes chance to share something creative with our UUCP community, either by yourself or in a group.  Tell a joke, sing a song, act out a skit, do a magic trick, recite a poem, play a musical instrument, pass around your photos, turn on a machine you built, do a dance, draw a picture, share some cookies from a recipe you created, etc.  It's like a talent show, but there's no talent required- just an appreciation for what everyone has to offer. Non-performers are welcome to be there to enjoy and applaud our performers, of course!
There's no need to sign up in advance, but if you have questions, please email Benjie Messer.
