Traveling 2nd Fridays: ARCOSANTI, COSANTI, AND SOLERI - Lynne Haeseler performing with Jeff Stein

Friday, April 11, at 7:00 PM
Cosanti, founded 50 years ago by the architect Paolo Soleri, comes from two Italian words:  "Cosa" meaning things and "anti" meaning before.  Before things.  Cosanti, a place before things, is an urban research foundation for ideas.  Located in the heart of Paradise Valley, it is where Soleri lived and worked.  Arcosanti is an urban laboratory focused on innovative design, community and environmental accountability.  Built by over 7,000 volunteers since the commencement of the project in 1970, Arcosanti provides various mixed-use buildings with the goal to actively pursue lean alternatives to urban sprawl based on Paolo Soleri's theory of compact city design.  Call Barbara Cawthorne with questions at 480-994-1452.

April 6:  Wisdom Without Easy Answers
Service Leader: Susan Frederick-Gray
What is wisdom and is there a difference between wisdom and knowledge? Many wisdom stories are not about answers or facts, but rather how we look at the questions. Can wisdom be found in uncertainty?
New Day Center Meal Service

Sunday, April 6, at 5:00 PM

Live out the UU commitment to serving those in need by serving a meal to the residents of the UMOM New Day Center.  Volunteers meet at the center at 5:00 PM and help feed a nutritious meal to the 150 parents and children who are living at New Day and rebuilding their lives.  This is a great opportunity for singles, couples, families with children (age 8+) or interest groups here at UUCP to be of service, spend time with friends and make new ones.  This is a one time, two-hour commitment.  Please email Michael Hipps or call 602-488-1188.
NEXT SUNDAY, 9:30 & 11:15 AM
April 13:  Finding Wisdom from Adversity
Service Leader: Susan Frederick-Gray

Can we grow wise through adversity?  We all face adversity and challenges, and researchers are finding that how we move through difficult situations can affect whether or not we grow in positive ways from the experiences or grow in negativity.

Share the Plate:  Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC)

UUSC believes that all people have inherent dignity, power, and rights.  In partnership, UUSC members, activists, and grassroots organizations throughout the world ensure that those fundamental human rights are realities for everyone.  UUSC works specifically with people and communities who are denied their rights and who are not served by mainstream human rights organizations.  Every day UUSC is taking action to advance a full array of human rights, which include forgotten conflicts and natural disasters.  Find out more online.

Wisdom comes with the ability to be still. Just look and just listen. No more is needed. Being still, looking, and listening activates the non-conceptual intelligence within you. Let stillness direct your words and actions.
