March 2:  The Importance of Laughter and Joy
Service Leader:  Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray
March 4th is Fat Tuesday - an intentional day for excess and playfulness before the Christian observance of Lent, a holy season marked by giving things up.  Similar holidays of joy and merriment abound in other traditions.  Joy is so important to our humanity that religious traditions have found ways to schedule it.  So whether joy arrives by calendar or by surprise, let's make time to remember the role of joy in our lives.

New Day Center Meal Service
Sunday, March 2 at 5:00 PM.

Live out the UU commitment to serving those in need by serving a meal to the residents of the UMOM New Day Center.  Volunteers meet at the center at 5:00 PM and help feed a nutritious meal to the 150 parents and children who are living at New Day and rebuilding their lives.  This is a great opportunity for singles, couples, families with children (age 8+) or interest groups here at UUCP to be of service, spend time with friends and make new ones.  This is a one-time, two-hour commitment. Please email Michael Hipps or call him at 602-488-1188.
Uncovering Classism Workshop
Sunday, March 2, at 9:00 AM
Join Facilitator Gene Cherry on March 2, 9, & 16 from 9:00 to 10:30 AM in Annex B.  The participants will explore what social class means to us and how we as UUs developed an Upper Class identity.  We will ask how can we be more welcoming and accepting of a wider diversity of people. Discussion material will be provided.  Sign up on the website or by emailing Jill or call her at 602-840-8400 x201.

NEXT SUNDAY, 9:30 & 11:15 AM
March 9:   Multigenerational Flower Communion Service
Service Leaders: Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray and Rev. Linda Lawrence
Flower Communion is an unique Unitarian Universalist celebration.  Through story, drama, and singing we will celebrate joyfully our values of respect, equal human dignity, and the beauty of Spring.  Each person is asked to bring one flower to the service to share.  Together we will make a beautiful arrangement celebrating the beauty of creation's diversity.
