January 26:  The Integrity of Community
texture-graphic-community.jpg

Service Leader: Susan Frederick-Gray
The challenge of walking one's talk is not just an individual challenge.  Communities, societies and entire countries can find themselves on a path that takes them further from their core values, further from what they profess to be true about themselves.  Beyond individual integrity; how do we contribute to the integrity of our community and society.

Sunday is the Last Day to Contribute to the Mini Campaign!
Thank you to everyone who has already made a gift to the campaign.  Remember, we have a $15,000 matching gift through this Sunday.  Every gift - of any amount - will be doubled if made by the end of the day.  Together we can make UUCP a more inviting, welcoming and accessible community! Click here to donate today. Click here to learn more about the campaign.

February 2:  Kindness Begins at Home (and with Self)
yoga-girl-home.jpg Service Leader: Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray  Loving-kindness meditation and practices are used to help turn our minds of fear and anger and resentment, to love and openness.  The practice encourages greater feelings of calm and peacefulness, a more positive outlook and greater happiness. But the practice always begins with directing this loving kindness first to the self.

New Day Meal Service

Live out the UU commitment to serving those in need by serving a meal to the residents of the UMOM New Day Center.  Volunteers meet at the center at 5PM and help feed a nutritious meal to the 150 parents and children who are living at New Day and rebuilding their lives. This is a great opportunity for singles, couples, families with children (minimum age 8 years old) or interest groups here at UUCP to be of service, spend time with friends and make new ones. This is a one time, two hour commitment. Please contact Michael Hipps by email or call 602-488-1188.

Featured Group:  2nd and 4th Saturdays Addictions Discussion Group
This addictions support group meets to discuss various compulsive and addictive behaviors. We provide a safe haven to discuss how our week has been and to talk openly about our spiritual beliefs. It is designed for those with stable recovery (we ask for 6 months of sobriety). Behaviors that qualify for the group are compulsive gambling, sex addiction, alcoholism, drug addiction including prescription pills, eating disorders including overeating, bulimia and anorexia, compulsive shopping, and workaholism. Your anonymity will be protected. The group is not appropriate for co-dependency or family and friends of addicts. We are not affiliated with any 12 step program, do not pass the basket, and do not say the Lord's prayer. Our only ritual is the lighting of the chalice. The only rule is to keep what we hear here here - hear hear! For more information, call Gene at 480-361-9067 or just show up on the 2nd or 4th Saturday at 4:30PM in Annex B.
