CTE workshop designed for school counselors and partners
An upcoming presentation will detail CTE programs, which have dramatically changed in the last 10 years. Today, there are more than 10,000 UC a-g approved CTE classes in California and 500 in Santa Clara County. CTE is used as an instructional strategy that provides students with academic core, employment skills and technical skills. Learn how CTE programs prepare students for college and careers. Elementary and middle grades first career network meeting launched
The Santa Clara County Office of Education CTE Department is launching a new elementary and middle grades network. The network meetings will be designed for leaders to share practices and to learn about resources being used in Santa Clara County schools. For example, Nobel Elementary School in Berryessa Union School District has held career assemblies for fifth-grade students. Oak Grove School District has had a STEM program for grades 5-8 since 2010 at the Herman Intermediate campus. Cupertino Middle School students will use Real Game California project based learning. "Engineer Girl" spotlights opportunities
Engineer Girl is a website that was launched in 2001 to bring national attention to exciting opportunities for girls and women in the field of engineering. Students can read what women do in engineering and the career paths the women followed to get where they are today. More than 50 interviews are online and student friendly. The website is sponsored by Lockheed Martin. |

Hats off to CTE teachers and administrators. Each February, districts, tech centers and states celebrate national CTE month. The Santa Clara County Office of Education CTE Department has many great products to support CTE Month, including new "I love CTE" hats.
