Message from your PTSA President
We all want to make sure our kids are safe in an event of any emergency. One of the important services that PTSA provides for the EHS community is Emergency Preparedness. We maintain a large storage container filled with supplies such as purified water and first aid kits at the ready. This container supports both Eastlake and Renaissance. It keeps backup lists of all students from both schools and their emergency contact information. Please be sure to keep your emergency contact/ release information up to date! The EHS PTSA Eprep chairs work with EHS Assistant Principal Todd Apple to continue improving the Eprep processes.
Also, ALICE (Alert/Lockdown/Inform/Counter/ Evacuate) training continues throughout the district to educate staff, parents, and students on how to best protect themselves in the event of a violent intruder. In support of this, the LWSD School district has been busy replacing locks in all schools so that classroom doors may now also be locked from the inside instead of just from the outside in the event that lockdown procedures must be implemented. Staff are being trained on how to react for their specific situation. Click here to learn more.
Talk to your own family about an emergency plan. It's always best to be prepared!

Reflections Winner!
Congratulations to Jillian Jackson who received an Award of Merit for her literature entry at the State level of the Reflections contest.
And the Service Award Goes To...
Every year, EHS PTSA recognizes members of our school community through its Service Awards. We are very fortunate to have so many outstanding people among our volunteers and personnel and feel that these individuals deserve as much recognition as possible! But here's the trick: the PTSA Service Awards Committee needs to hear of these marvelous people. The committee makes decisions based on YOUR recommendations. Please consider taking a few minutes of your valuable time to write down or email a recommendation to the Committee. We all have a favorite volunteer and/or a much admired staff member to write about. Your written recommendation does not need to be extensive; simply provide an individual's name and the reasons you feel they merit recognition. While we have a limited number of shiny pins to give away, please be assured that each and every recommendation we receive will be carefully reviewed and every nominee will receive a letter from PTSA. Click here to email your nomination, or send your written recommendation to Eastlake in a sealed envelope marked "PTSA Service Awards" by Monday, April 25. Service Awards will be announced on Tuesday, May 24 at the annual Volunteer Appreciation Tea. All volunteers who have contributed to Eastlake High School this year are invited to attend!
