Windstorms, Carbon Monoxide & Home Safety
Winter is here and wind storms become more common. Here is a one page checklist
for how to prepare for a windstorm.
Should a power outage occur, please be careful about the use of in-home heating that can cause carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. Commonly seen problems include: indoor use of cooking grills; use of wood burning fireplaces without proper ventilation and cars running in garages to heat the living space above the garage.
Suggestions:
Install CO monitor; check CO monitor battery. Don't use generators or grills indoors, even in the garage. Check now to make sure gas and electric fireplaces are properly vented. Carbon monoxide poisoning information can be found at the Center for Disease Control website.

A message from your PTSA president
We hope you all had a relaxing and restful Thanksgiving weekend with family and friends. And of course, fun shopping on Black Friday! Thank you to those that shopped on Amazon and helped us earn $$ for the PTSA.
The next Parent Wolf Chat is this Tuesday from 5 - 6 pm. This is a great opportunity to speak with Principal Chris Bede and get your questions and concerns addressed. It's also a great time to hear about what the administration and students are doing together to make Eastlake the best place to be. Our students are really awesome individuals doing a lot of great work in and outside the classrooms. Did you know there are many new clubs formed directly by our students wanting to make a difference? Check out the EHS website to find out more.
It's that time of year when lending an extra hand or dollar can mean so much to someone in need. If you haven't heard we have a new PTSA program, Eastlake Angels, designed to help meet the needs of our Eastlake students whose families experience financial hardships. Learn more about how you can help.
If you haven't had a chance to join us, volunteer, or contribute to our annual fundraiser, it's never too late. Do it today!

Donate Here to Help Eastlake Angels
Have you heard about Eastlake Angels? It is a new PTSA program designed to help meet the needs of Eastlake students whose families are experiencing financial hardship. There are about 100 students at Eastlake who qualify for the Free & Reduced Lunch program. There are many others who may be too embarrassed to ask for help in an area like Sammamish. This confidential, behind the scenes help can be in the form of food, school or sports supplies, clothing or other basic needs.
Our fundraising efforts (selling pajamas) were not as successful as we had hoped - we only raised $550. That is not going to go very far in helping students. Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to the Eastlake PTSA to benefit Eastlake Angels. Contact Mary Pat O'Neil with any questions. All the program details are here.
Last Call for the Pajama Fundraiser!
The last day to turn in your pajama order is Friday, December 5. Pajamas, robes, and slippers make great holiday gifts and are easy on the wallet: 3 items for $30 plus $2 shipping! Click here for more info. You may email your order - please be specific with style/pattern/size. Everything will be in by the December break and you will be helping Eastlake Angels.

PTSA and College Readiness
SAT Prep Winter & Spring Schedule
Check out the new schedule for SAT prep classes and practice tests offered here on the Plateau. A portion of each student fee goes to the EHS PTSA.
It's essay season; some students have already written their essays but really need them looked over by an independent professional to make sure they are college ready. In one hour, Adam with U-Link can evaluate your essay, give feedback and have it ready for sending. The fee is $100. This takes the onus away from the parents checking on their student's essay and knowing their student will be represented by an essay that speaks to who they are. Contact Adam R. Gervis, Independent Counselor specializing in college search, college essay and writing via website or phone 206-355-9786. Click here to sign up for an appointment. A portion of your fee goes to EHS PTSA!
