Depression: people who are depressed have lower concentrations of zinc in their peripheral blood compared with nondepressed individuals, a meta-analysis suggests.

Alzheimer's Disease: For patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer disease, 2000 IU of vitamin E daily slowed decline and reduced caregiver burden while the drug memantine showed no benefit, but more side effects according to a study published in JAMA.

Heart Disease: Mediterranean diet + extra-virgin olive oil dropped type2 diabetes risk 40% in folks at high risk of heart disease according to an Annals of Internal Medicine report.
