Pesticides' Dirty Dozen

 

Buying all organic can get quite expensive so I'm going to give you a few tips on produce you must avoid (the dirty dozen) and the fifteen least contaminated fruits and vegetables that don't have to be organic (the OK 15). Experts say helenyou can avoid 90% of pesticide exposure by avoiding these top 12 conventionally grown fruits and vegetables. If you eat these regularly, you are exposing yourself to over 14 pesticides per day. I personally add Green Beans, Kale, and Collard Greens to this list: Apples, Celery, Bell Pepper, Peaches, Strawberries, Nectarines, Grapes, S pinach, Lettuce, Cucumbers, Blueberries, and Potatoes.

The following produce seems to be the least contaminated: Onions, Corn, Pineapples, Avocado, Cabbage, Sweet Peas, Asparagus, Mangos, Eggplant, Kiwi, Cantaloupe, Sweet Potatoes, Grapefruit, Watermelon, and Mushrooms. As you can see, most of these have a hard shell that protects it from abuse. For me, I still buy organic corn, onions, peas, asparagus, and mushrooms.

 

GMO - SAY NO

Do you know what GMO foods are? GMO stands for genetically codified organism. Scientist intentionally change plant and animal genes to create products with scientifically manufactured proteins or other substances. By altering these genes, they increase the shelf life, slow down ripening, and make them more resistant to pests, disease, and pesticides. Sounds good? Not really.

 

You see, the problem is that these become substances that the human body has no prior experience digesting. There are plenty of studies that show that GMO corn fed to rats develop breast tumors, kidney and liver damage, and other health problems. Also, female rats died more rapidly than the control group and male rats developed tumors a year and a half earlier than the control group not fed GMO corn. There are also other studies that show that GMO foods cause obesity and significant changes in major organs.

Without a lot more boring stats, simply avoid soy and corn for the rest of your life. Organic corn may be an option, but soy is a lost cause. Read labels, you'll be shocked how much you see these two ingredients. Additionally, all vitamins should be sourced from organic plants, fruits, and vegetables.

DO IT YOURSELF SKIN CARE TREATMENTS

 

DRY LIPS: You'll need to exfoliate then moisturize. Mix 1 ½ Tsp. honey, 1 ½ Tsp. Sugar, and the juice from ¼ Lemon in a bowl. Use your finger to scoop it up and gently rub over lips. Rinse well. Combine 1 Tbsp. Coconut Oil, ¼ Tsp. Flaxseed Oil, and one drop of Lemon Essential Oil and dab onto lips. This mixture should keep in the fridge a week. Lips feel great. STEAM AND MASK: When you don't have time to get a facial try this simple routine. Clean face thoroughly. Dissolve ½ Cup Himalayan Salt Crystals and one Peppermint Tea Bag into a large pot of water and bring to boil. Remove from heat and sit with your face over the pot of steam (keep head covered with a towel to trap the steam. While the water is heating up, make a mask of ¼ Papaya mashed and 2 Tbsp. of plain Yogurt. After steaming the face for 10 minutes, spread the mask all over the face for 15 minutes. Rinse, tone, and moisturize.

Mix one ripe avocado mashed with 3 Tbsp. of Olive Oil, 2 Tbsp. of plain yogurt, and 1 Tbsp. of honey. Spread over entire face and neck area and relax for 20 minutes. Rinse well. Next, add 2 Vitamin E caps to 2 Tbsp. of Sweet Almond Oil and massage into face and neck area using gentle circular movements. No more dry skin, face feels great.
