BEAUTY QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Will drinking lots of water give me that dewy, hydrated look?
NO! I'm afraid not. While drinking half your weight in ounces is imperative for optimal health, it will not give your skin that extra "glow." This "glow" is achieved by using deeply penetrating topical ingredients that attract and retain moisture in the top level of skin. These ingredients are known as humectants. Aloe, honey, glycerin, sorbitol, sodium PCA, polysaccharides, and my favorite hyaluronic acid (HA is also known as sodium hyaluronate.) HA is a natural wonder absorbing 1000 times its' weight in moisture and is abundant in our skin when we are young. As we age, the skin can no longer make as much as needed, so skin begins to dehydrate, thin, and wrinkle.
The second phase to retaining that "glow" is to restore the lipid balance in the stratum corneum which will form a water-barrier function to prevent moisture loss. Without this, humectants will bring moisture to the service but it will simply evaporate and cause even more dryness. To restore the lipid balance you need ingredients like plant oils such as squalane, palm, coconut, grapeseed which contain fatty esthers (also known as fatty acids and fatty alcohols) like linoleic acid, stearic acid, linolenic acid, and oleic acid. Also certain proteins and ceramides help form an occlusive film that controls evaporation. Petrolatum, mineral oil, and lanolin prevent moisture loss but also clog pores, so most natural cosmetic manufacturers like me avoid using these ingredients.
What am I trying to say girls? You need to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!
Let me tell you how we do it at Hello Gorgeous. All of our toners contain 80% Aloe Vera and loads of HA. So after you cleanse or scrub all you have to do is spray on one of our toners designed especially for your skin type (normal/combination, dry, oily/problem, or sensitive.) Gently pat in all over your face and neck. Next apply the appropriate moisturizer. Yes, even you 'oily girls' need a moisturizer.
Please do drink plenty of H2O based on your weight. Eat lots of fruits and vegies, because they supply your skin with more moisture than water does. And finally, use my toners to restore moisture levels and my moisturizers to maintain lipid levels.
Getting that "glow" is easy with my Ultra Aloe Care skin care products. With its' 200% Aloe base, Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium PCA and all the natural lipid factors designed with your skin in mind, your skin will look plump and supple like it did in your youth.
