Spotlight: Meet Carolyn!
She is a workshop presenter for Grade 6 Classy Critters, Grade 4 Gearing Up and Grades 2/4 Ocean Habitats & Adaptations.

She is also a Scientists in School Team Lead for 10 workshop topics, with responsibilities including creating student booklets and visuals, ordering materials, making changes to experiments or activities, guiding and supporting presenters, and reviewing teacher evaluations.

With a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of Guelph, Carolyn has spent her post-university career focusing on educating the general public in animals, environmental issues and our human impact. However, even though she is a Biologist, she sees the importance of STEM in all walks of life. Working with Scientists in School allows her to provide opportunities for children to have a positive experience with STEM, encouraging them to ask more questions and to give them an alternative view of the world. In her spare time, Carolyn is a busy mom who loves to ski, garden and read by any available fireplace.

Our mission is to ignite scientific curiosity in children so that they question intelligently; learn through discovery; connect scientific knowledge to their world; are excited about science, technology, engineering and math; and have their interest in careers in those fields piqued. As a charity, we rely upon corporate, community and individual donors, as well as school board partners for support to develop new programs, improve our existing programs, reach new communities, provide complimentary workshops to under-resourced schools, and subsidize the cost of all classroom workshops.
