The Gypsy Vanner Horse Society has tentatively planned to hold Evaluations
on Sunday, October 2nd, 2016 at Thistleridge Farm, MONTVILLE, OH.
We have had many enquiries about holding Evaluations in this area.
In order to proceed with finalizing this Evaluation date, we want to ensure that we have a minimum number of people committed to bringing their horses out for Evaluation on this date.
The Gypsy Vanner Horse Evaluation Program has been developed as an educational tool for the horse breeder, to promote thoughtful breeding of Gypsy Vanner Horses of the type as detailed in the breed standard, and for the public to educate them about the breed.
The program's purpose is to help breeders and owners to educate themselves about the strengths and weaknesses of their horses so they can use this knowledge in making educated breeding and purchasing decisions.
This system should be viewed as an important tool to help preserve the
wonderful characteristics of the Gypsy Vanner Horse.
The Conformation-Movement evaluation is also an integral part of the GVHS Registration process. Horses that have been placed into the Pre-Studbook require a certain minimum Conformation-Movement evaluation score to move from the GVHS Pre-Studbook into the Regular Studbook.
Please note that if you have a horse in the Pre- Studbook that you wish to have moved to the Regular Studbook, the Rules surrounding the required scores to move are changing effective January 1, 2017.
Currently an overall score of 70 is required.
Starting in 2017 the horse must score over 70 and have a minimum
Breed Type score of 7 (x2).
More information about the Evaluation program can be found on the GVHS
If you are interested in attending this Evaluation,
please contact the GVHS Office indicating the number of
Evaluations that you would commit to on October 2nd.
Once we have enough committed, we will confirm this date
and venue with you, and send you the Evaluation Registration forms to submit along with the Evaluation fees prior to October 2nd.
