Sincere Apologies to Nancy Fried for the wrong name on her picture with Arken!

NEW BOARD MEMBER, Brenda Rose

Following the resignation of Joyce Christian in July 2015, the remaining Board members carefully considered their alternatives to elect a replacement to serve for the duration of the term.  According to the GVHS By-Laws, the remaining Board members may elect to fill a position that has been vacated mid-term with an affirmative vote of a majority of the remaining Directors.  At the Board meeting of Sept 29, the Board voted to elect Brenda Rose of RHR Rose Hill Ranch in Texas.

Brenda submitted the following bio
for review by the Board:

"I have been a member of the GVHS since 2012 when we were Blessed with our first mare.  At the time this was supposed to be the only Gypsy Vanner Horse that we (my daughter Megan and I) were ever going to get....but anyone who knows and loves this breed will say they are like potato chips, you can never have just one. :) After a successful first year of showing our mare WW Roisin Dubh, we bred her, and this has lead to the addiction of the proper Gypsy Vanner.  We now own 2 mares, a yearling filly, a weanling filly, and a gelding.  We have gone from boarding all our Gypsy Vanners, to very soon having them at our own barn on our 84 acres, near our home. We are now a small breeding farm, and will remain at that status striving to breed a proper Gypsy Vanner.

Megan and I love sharing and telling people about our Very Special Horses. To us the Gypsy Vanner is a very majestic breed. There is not another breed of horse that has this temperament, bone, and hair...  We both enjoy attending shows where we get the chance to compete, make new friends and see old friends. My daughter was the Reserve Youth High Point for the GVHS in 2012 and is trying to make High Point Youth for this year with the GVHS. I love seeing the youth classes get bigger each year and believe the youth has a lot to give to our breed. I also believe that the youth are integral to the future to our breed.

For the past 15+ years I have been blessed to be a stay at home mom. I have a son Sean who will be 16 in November, and our daughter Megan who will be 14 in November.  God Blessed me with a very special husband. Brian is not only patient and caring and puts others needs above his own, but he also spoils me rotten. Brian is an Orthopedic Surgeon. He works very hard and is very dedicated to his job and patients.

In the past I have served on several different boards. Just to name a few, (starting with the most recent) Battle of the Axe Golf Tournament, Grayson County Habitat for Humanity, Cabarrus County Medical Society Alliance, Bexar County Medical Society Alliance (Teddy bears for kids in crisis, and Dr's day).

I am committed to not only getting our breed out to the public, but also to improving our youth involvement, and showcasing small breeders who put quality above quantity.
"

Join us in welcoming Brenda to the GVHS Board!

We also extend our sincere appreciation to Joyce Christian for the many years she has served on the GVHS Board.  Her true passion for the Gypsy Vanner Breed will continue and we hope to see Joyce at events throughout the year!

Thank you, Joyce.
