The Canadian Gypsy Vanner Horse Club
held a Gypsy Vanner Show over the
weekend of August 2-3 in conjunction with the Canadian Draft Horse Show & Exhibition in Barrie, ON. The show was held in a beautiful new facility,
the Essa Agriplex, and sharing the venue with
the draft horses drew a large crowd to view all breeds over the weekend of the event.
Many thanks toSonya Martin and Ron Chauvin for their hard work in organizing this show on behalf of the Club!

Something New!!!
We are starting a new column for our members sharing our most embarrassing horse show/riding moments and other horse owner/trainer/rider bloopers! Everyone has an "Oops.... did that just happen?!" moment every now and again. Let's give each other a giggle and boost our confidence that we are not alone when having these things happen!
This month's blooper story comes from
Jackie Johnson!
A number of years ago we were showing at the Calgary Stampede Breed demos, and about 2 weeks before we were scheduled to attend, our Gypsy Vanner yearling pulled ALL of his mane off in one glorious, unsupervised evening of scratching. In a panic, we purchased clip on hair extensions from the local beauty salon, and proceeded with our show preparations. Once at the show, our Gypsy Vanner was cleaned, coifed and dusted with ample amounts of baby powder, for whiteness, and Anti-Fungal foot powder to try and offer up some releif for his incessant scratching!! Of course, his 'mane' extensions were applied and off we went to the demo pen, looking appropriately clean, and hairy.
Upon stepping into the demo pen, the horse gave a tremendous full body shake! A magical plume of fine white smoke/dust engulfed him, and completely obscured the entire pen. Through the dust, black clumps of flying hair were also visible....Uh oh.
When the dust settled, there stood a fairly naked Gypsy Vanner. His massive shake blew off all the powder AND the hair extensions...needless to say, his 'show' was met with a collective !WOW! from the audience.
NOW IT'S YOUR TURN! WRITE US ABOUT YOUR "Oops" MOMENT!
