Something New!!!

We are starting a new column for our members sharing our most embarrassing horse show/riding moments and other horse owner/trainer/rider bloopers! Everyone has an "Oops.... did that just happen?!" moment every now and again. Let's give each other a giggle and boost our confidence that we are not alone when having these things happen!

I'll go first!

A couple of month ago I was riding in a dressage show and had a big test blooper! I was riding a training level test coming out of a circle at a trot and my horse for one of the very first times was 100% on my aids in every way! I started grinning as everything went into a flowing beautiful moment of true partnership and communication which we've been working towards for quite a while. As I came around a corner I just out of the blue picked up the canter which he gave me ever so effortlessly, light and correct! I now got even more lost in the moment and we did a beautiful canter down the long side of the arena! I was abruptly woken out of wonderland when the bell rang letting me know that I was no longer riding the correct test pattern! Oops!
I thought I was disqualified and began my march out of the arena thinking of how to explain to my boss that I got totally lost in just enjoying a ride and forgot all about being in the show ring, when the judge rang the bell over and over again. I am now under the impression I'm being rushed out of the arena and in trouble and since it was a crazy windy day I didn't hear all the yelling she did trying to talk to me as I was rudely trotting away with my head down! She finally caught me and told me I didn't have to leave and that I can just go back in and finish my test with a 2 point deduction! Double Oops! So back into the arena I go and I finished my test and still ended up with a 3rd place ribbon!
There you have it! Sometimes even trainers get lost in a moment of true joy and love for the ride!

Buckeye Baroque Summer Jubilee Show Re-cap!

It was a great time at this year's Buckeye Baroque Show with around 30 Gypsy Vanners attending! Spectators loved seeing the horses showing off their beauty and elegance in the Halter and Performance classes alike!
Show manager Terry Tatman was thrilled with the turnout and invited all GVHS members to bring their horses to next year's show and recommend other classes that could be added to the Show Bill! Let's take him up on it!

D'Jango Jazz of Mokete's Village Gypsy Vanner Horses was crowned Grand Champion Gypsy Vanner in Halter and Overall Highpoint Gypsy Vanner!
Congratulations!!!
