- THE VANNER BANNER -

JUNE 2014

Gypsy Vanner Horse Society

The Headliners Understudy - R & R Stables

6th Annual
Feathered Horse Spring Classic
 May 2-4

"The Show was a big success!",
says Gail Shrine, show manager.
Despite the horrible weather that hit surrounding areas of Verona, MS and left some damage behind just a couple of days before the 6th Annual Feathered Horse Classic, the show went on in great spirits with 60 horses attending! This was the second show of the five series this year that included qualifying classes for the very first NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW
January 16th 2015 in Jacksonville, FL!
To qualify participants must enter at least two Feathered Horse Classic Shows and place 1-6 in the qualifying classes!

A GVHS Members Story

"A boarder at my barn suggested I should try in-hand competition with my Gypsy Vanner, Arkan. I decided to enter 4 classes at the Jim Brandon Arena in West Palm, FL. We entered in Halter, Color, Showmanship and None-stock!
I was the only person with an "unusual" horse surrounded by 30 quarter horses! The judge came up to me and asked what kind of horse I had!
Well what does that say?! She had no clue that I had a Gypsy Vanner  who is out of the Lion King and who was brought from Europe to be a breeding stallion before I purchased him. It's really sad a horse show judge doesn't know her breeds!
He took 2nd and a 4th in two of our classed!
We had a fun day and he looked stunning! He is such a sweetie, lots of people who had never seen a Gypsy Vanner before were eager to pet- and play with him.Arkan made a splash at the show and he behaved very well. We will show again this Fall!"

DON'T FENCE ME IN!

When a Vanner stallion kicks up its heels and runs across a pasture, it all but calls out, with class, presence and style,
"Hey! Look at me! I am special. I can do anything.
Don't fence me in!"
