Greetings!

We are now about halfway through the summer andThe Vanner magazine has been published, the new GVHS logo apparel store is now online and our members have been busy showcasing the Gypsy Vanner Horse breed at various open and breed shows.  Inside this edition of The Vanner Banner you will find news of upcoming events, initiatives and Board of Directors' elections.
GVHS DIRECTOR ELECTION 
Call for Nominations for Board of Directors 

The GVHS has a seven member Board of Directors.  The elected terms run for three years and on December 31, 2013, two Director terms will be expiring. 

 

The GVHS is seeking interested and qualified candidates to fill the Board of Directors' positions beginning January 1, 2014.

  

Members of the Board of Directors are expected to:

 

1) Contribute to current and long term strategic planning activities

2) Attend meetings (1-2 per year in person, 2X/ month conference call)

3) Attend GVHS events held in your Region

4) Participate in registration process as warranted

5) Oversee GVHS finances

 

If you have been a general or lifetime member in good standing for more than 90 days, have a passion for the Gypsy Vanner Horse breed and are committed to maintaining the breed in accordance with the Goals and Mission of the GVHS, consider submitting your nomination information.   We ask that any member interested in running for a position on the BOD submit the basic application form, a brief bio and a signed Code of Ethics indicating your willingness to abide by the GVHS Bylaws and to maintain appropriate confidentiality if elected to the BOD.  Nomination applications must be received by October 1, 2013. 

  

Detailed information regarding the nomination and election process and the applicable Bylaws can be found on the GVHS website at www.vanners.org.  If you have any further questions, contact the GVHS office. 

 

Ballots containing information and qualifications of each candidate will be mailed to voting members at the beginning of November to be returned by, and counted on December 11th, 2013.

 

If you are a qualified candidate please submit your name and information to the GVHS office at the address below, or via email no later than October 1, 2013.

 VANNER FAIR  

 September 21-22, 2013

Stalls are filling up for September's Vanner Fair.  If you plan to attend but have not booked your stall space via the Pre-Registration form (#1) on the website, please do so ASAP!  An information bulletin and a separate form to enter show events will be circulated to all who have booked their space shortly. 

 

Note that the August 4th deadline to have your Sale Horses listed in the Sales Guide of the Vanner Fair program is approaching....this includes listings for horses to be entered into the Elite Sales Auction and those that are being sold privately.   For $250, your Gypsy Vanner Horse will be listed in a standard format within the Sales Guide.   To submit your horse for inclusion, fill out either #2 Elite Sales Auction Seller's Entry Form or #3 Sales Guide Listing form and submit payment in full (#5).

TELUS Battle of the Breeds, September 5- 7th,2013 
Cheer on Team Gypsy Vanner!! Every year, during the internationally acclaimed jumping tournament, "Masters", Spruce Meadows in Alberta, Canada hosts a competition called the "TELUS  Battle of the Breeds" where up to 12 breeds compete against each other to determine which breed is the most versatile of them all. Each team is made up of four horses to compete in  Compulsory Skills, Precision Driving, Barrel Racing, Jeopardy Jumping and Trail Riding.  Traditionally, the 'Battle' has been attended by teams of;  Morgans, Appaloosas, Paints, Pintos, Warmbloods, Canadians, Saddlebreds, Arabs, Shetlands, and even Mules. For the first time in the history of the  TELUS Battle of the Breeds, Spruce Meadows has granted it's approval for Team Gypsy Vanner to be included amongst those competing for the 'Breed' Title.  

 

With their Team Entry sponsored by the GVHS, under the training and preparation of Jackie Johnson and the significant support of North Fork Gypsy Cobs, the Vanner horses Clononeen Tullamore Dew, Rolling Thunder Bailey, Clononeen Bliss and North Fork Orion, along with their riders/drivers are sure to make the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society proud!

2013 Gypsy Vanner Gold Cup Futurity

In cooperation with the Fall Feathered Horse Classic show, Perry, GA during the Georgia National Fair!    Futurity classes will be held on

 Wednesday, October 9th, 2013
