Gypsy Vanner Gold Cup Futurity
In cooperation with the Fall Feathered Horse Classic show, plans are in the works to hold the 2013 Gypsy Vanner Horse Society FUTURITY competition in Perry, GA during the Georgia National Fair! Futurity classes will be held on Wednesday, October 9th, 2013.
The Gypsy Vanner Horse Futurity Program is open to all registered Gypsy Vanner mares and stallions who qualify under the registration and futurity rules.
A list of current Futurity Gold Cup Stallions http://vanners.org/gold-cup-stallions-2/
A list of currently eligible horses can be found on the GVHS website at: http://vanners.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/GVHS-Futurity-Horses.pdf
Entry forms for the October Futurity show will be posted on the website shortly.
Stallion Owners, for a one-time fee of $500 you can nominate your stallion as a Gold Cup Stallion. From there on registered Gypsy Vanner mares bred to him can be nominated in the year bred so that the resulting foal will be eligible to participate in the Futurity Program. Add value to your stallion as a Gypsy Vanner Gold Cup Stallion, add value to his offspring. Highlight your breeding program by participating and promoting the program for the future champions of the breed. Stallion Nomination Form
Mare Owners, when you breed your mare to a Gold Cup Stallion you can nominate that mare in the year bred with a fee of $100. By doing this you are already increasing the value of the resulting foal. This foal will be able to participate in the Futurity program for years to come, promoting and highlighting your breeding program, promoting the breed in the performance division, and earning money and the title of Futurity winners and performance champions. Mare Nomination Form
NOTE there is still time to nominate your 2012 stallions and mares for their 2013 foals to show in next year's Futurity! The GVHS Board voted to extend the date for nominations for 2012 breedings until July 31, 2013!! The more participation in the program, the more funds and the larger the winnings paid out to the participants.

GVHS EVALUATIONS
and first Versatility Medallion Of Honor Gypsy Vanner
During the month of May the GVHS held horse evaluations at two locations. The first weekend in conjunction with the evaluator and judges training seminar in Florida, several owners also took advantage of the event to have their horses evaluated and kindly allowed the evaluations to be part of the training. A couple of weeks later in Ontario, Canada, 22 evaluations were done including performance tests in English under saddle, western under saddle, and driving. Many of the horses achieved star award levels in conformation and movement. The seven year old stallion, The Pleasure's Mine, owned by Steve and Rita Cardy became the very first Gypsy Vanner Horse to achieve the Versatility Medallion of Honor by completing the required score level in Western under saddle. He had previously completed his Conformation/Movement scores as well as successfully completing the scores needed for the English under saddle test and the Driving test.

VANNER FAIR
2013

The inaugural Vanner Fair in North America was held on September 24, 2011 at the spectacular Deer Fields Stables in Caledon, ON. Gypsy Vanner owners travelled with their horses from the USA and Canada to participate. Vanner Fair featured Gypsy Vanner horses in competition, on the red carpet and in musically choreographed demonstrations. Attendees were entertained and delighted by the magnificent animals and their proud owners who allowed visitors to get up close and personal with these gentle horses.
Now this fall, the second North American Vanner Fair has been extended to two days and will be held on Sept 21, and 22nd at the Orangeville Agricultural Society Event Centre. The Advisory Committee along with Jim Wilson and Deer Fields Stables have been working together to ensure an educational and entertaining program.
Once again, visitors will have the opportunity to see independent stable demos, demonstrations of breed versatility, competition and the red carpet parade. Additionally this year's Vanner Fair will focus more on education and sales, with a buyers education seminar to be conducted by equine professional Wayne Hipsley and the Elite Sales Auction. Only horses that have been evaluated with 4- or 5-star scores can be entered into the auction. This is in an effort to help the public identify the most desirable Gypsy Vanner breed characteristics, and to assure buyers are purchasing a top quality horse.
While this new venue was selected to enable us to double the capacity for horses over the first Vanner Fair at Deer Fields the stall spaces are quickly filling and organizers encourage all to reserve their space today by filling out the online Pre-Registration form and sending a deposit. http://www.vannerfair.com/registration-forms.html More information and registration forms for the Elite Sales Auction will be available online within the next week. www.vannerfair.com
