Vanner Advantage Program

The purpose of the Vanner Advantage Program is to recognize owners and their horses for getting out in public and sharing the magic of the Gypsy Vanner Horse.

If your Gypsy Vanner Horse is competing in Events or Competitions such as organized trail rides, poker rides, endurance riding, open shows, breed demonstrations and expos, doing any type of public service, we want to know about it.

At our annual meeting and banquet each year we present awards to the top 10 horses and the top youth in the Vanner Advantage Program. It is the responsibility of the owner to submit their horses' events on time.

To submit your activities you must use the Vanner Advantage Form and send in by January 15, 2013.

Season Greetings!
As 2012 comes to a close, we want to remind everyone of our upcoming Annual Meeting and of several items that may require your action.

Register Today!
Las Vegas was chosen to best accommodate members from all parts of Canada and the US and especially to encourage our Western region members to attend!
The 2013 GVHS Annual Meeting educational sessions will cover topics such as History of the Gypsy Vanner Horse, Basics of Gypsy Vanner Conformation, Grooming Tips, and more! Additionally, a Hospitality Suite on Friday evening and the Awards Banquet on Saturday evening will provide opportunity to meet and mingle with fellow Gyspy Vanner enthusiasts in a relaxed social setting.

 Board of Directors Election

Thank you to all members who returned their completed ballots for the Board
of Directors' positions. The terms of Bill Ricci and Michael Litz xpire December 31, 2012.  The ballots have been tallied and we welcome returning Board member and acting President, Michael Litz, and new Director Terri Martel.

We want to say thank you to Bill Ricci, who decided after 8 years of serving the GVHS as a Director, and also serving as President, that it was time for him to step down and not pursue another term.  Bill is a Founding Lifetime Member of the GVHS and we thank him for his tremendous efforts over the years.  His support and hard work have been instrumental in shaping the GVHS.  His leadership has led the way for the GVHS to become a highly professional and goal achieving organization.  This has resulted in extreme growth in the breed and in the GVHS with the protection of the breed on the forefront.

This fall we also received notice of the resignation of Director, Sue Rathbone, who has served on the GVHS Board for the last 4 years and she has been involved with the breed and the GVHS for many more years before that.  Sue has been very busy marketing and promoting to the benefit of the breed, the organization and all its members.  We often would see Sue and her horses at events like the horse expos,  the breed shows,  the World Equestrian event in Lexington, and  even featured as the stars in a movie.   Good luck to both of these dedicated members and we hope we can keep you involved and call upon you for support.

Jamie Sharp will be filling the Director chair to fulfill the term vacated by Sue.  Welcome Jamie to the board.
