 2013 vegas

...2013 is going to be a Vanner Year!!

As 2012 comes to a close, the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society is gearing up for a busy 2013. To kick it off, the Annual Meeting will be held in Las Vegas, NV on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Flamingo.

We invite all GVHS members to join us there for an educational and entertaining event! Visit the meeting website to learn more about the planned activities, to register for the meeting and to book your hotel room at the special group rate.

One of the highlights of the Annual Meeting is the Awards Dinner where we will recognize 2012 Show High Point Award Winners and 2012 Vanner Advantage Award recipients. While the Show standings have already been submitted to the GVHS by the show organizers for tabulation of points, all members are encouraged to review the guidelines and submit your forms in order to be considered for the Vanner Advantage awards! These forms will be accepted until January 15, 2013 for the 2012 awards.

If anyone has questions, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at [email protected] . On behalf of the GVHS Board of Directors & Executive, we welcome you to join us and look forward to seeing you in Vegas in February!

 Regards, Kathy

***IMPORTANT!!! You may want to check the 'normal' rates available for your stay when booking through the Flamingo Reservations system as there are various promotions that may result in room rates lower than those above. For example, right now they are holding a CYBER MONDAY SPECIAL at rates lower than the guaranteed Group Rates. If you do book separately, please let us know, so that we can count these rooms towards the contracted number for the meeting facility. ***
GVHS Stallion Service Sale 2013

We are beginning to add stallions to the website page for the 2013 Stallion Service Sale. The stud fees listed will be a discount of at least 50% off that stallions normal stud fee. The breedings will be sold for the 2013 breeding year. Be sure to read the rules and conditions. Please contact the office or fill out the DONATION FORM to donate a breeding to your stallion. Send in the PURCHASE CONTRACT to purchase a breeding. We will continue to add more stallions as the information on each comes in.

2012 Gypsy Daze

What a wonderful day for a ride and drive. WillowWind Stable of Charlotte Michigan hosted "Gypsy Daze" on October 06, 2012, where 20 participants brought their horses, wagons; buggy's to enjoy a Fall Ride and Drive around the farm. Mandy Kramar put together a day of seminars, a Trip through the Country Side, and Hot lunch and Hot Beverages (well you know it had to be a bit chilly and drizzly) for all of the participants.

First thing on the list was a trip around the block, (4 miles) through the fall foliage, along the riverside and around the local Amish farms, there were Gypsy Vanner's poking along at least mile. When everybody finally got back to the Stable, Kim (Mandy's Husband) had lunch ready with fresh hot spiced cider and hot chocolate ready for the weary travelers.

While everybody was enjoying lunch, the Video of the 2011"Vanner Fair' was played along with the 1962 Encyclopedia Britannica movie "Appleby Fair", we then proceeded to have Karin Leffers-Hulatti proceed with a seminar on "Color Genetics", followed by Mandy demonstrating the finer points of Conformation of Gypsy Vanner's, with demonstrations on 4 different willing GV participants, one of whom wasn't happy to find out that he was going to be gelded.

During the question and answer period, dessert was made available, (but there was supposed to be one more desert brought along, but one of the ladies left hers unattended at home, and her "better half" thought that it was made for him, so he ate most of it, and there wasn't enough to bring to the farm), but as always Kim makes enough food to feed an army, which is more than everybody could possibly eat.
